i had a rare day off the road yesterday so me an my mate went to a local 2nd hand car lot near wolvo where i got my miggy from..and what did i spy whilst there??? a white w reg 3.0 elite with 149,00 on the clock dented front wing missing badge on the boot and scruffy interior i.e. it needed cleaning and valeting the engine sounded ok no oil leaks no water in the oil..its priced up at £850 wot do you guys reckon? :-/

My first thought is Ex Plod.
Check the speedo for a calibration sticker above the reset trip odometer. It will say something like 'Calibrated by IRS Nottingham' and have a serial number in smaller type.
Also, check the speedo is in 5mph increments (civvy spec) as opposed to 2 mph (Police spec). If some unscrupulous type has removed the sticker to remove the ex-plod factor, chances are the speedo will still be 2mph steps.
If thats there, deffo ex-police (or less probable, military.....)
Its also rare for a police vehicle to have a sunroof.......

As Bruce says - ex plod - 155mph speedo, missing or aftermarket stereo and holes for ariels....

i think i`ll have good look over it on friday if its still there..i wont lie i am really tempted my miggy has really give me a taste for these cars and i would like the top spec for once in my life....

sounds defo like an ex-plod.
I have only ever seen one retail MV6 in white....
There is not much money in that if it is plod, basic spec, no rear leccy windows no nothing!

As Markie and Hotel21 say, if it has the 155mph speedo (lots and lots on thin white lines on the speedo) then its x-police.

If it's ex-plod the only thing 'top spec' about them is the name. You won't find any of the normall Elite toys in it.

I know what you mean, but I've been ina a 2.9 Scorpio taxi & there used to be a Lexus LS400 with taxi plates on around here. :o

true, but all the white colour taxi's will be the cheapo small engine ones.
My dad has a regular taxi he uses in the Isle of Man which is a Jaguar.
You see Jag / Merc taxi's in London but they are all executive (private hire) ones and usually in black and other colours, not white.

we got a local GS300 taxi here, along with an S-Type Jag
ex plod or not, £850 suggest something major wrong
have you looked to see if the engine is actually there?

I was looking at a web page today and there was a yellow one for sale, facelift model, it looked the origional colour, would that have been aproduction colour.
Never seen one before.

i got a chance to look at this miggy today whilst out an about in me wagon...(soz your tv was late missus but we had a problem with the wagon...) i don`t think i`ll touch it with a barge pole now it smells of mold inside an when you look at the wheels from the front the back wheels are outa line with the fronts???? i think its a bodged accident repair job an me mate (the astra nut) reckons my 2.0 is in better nick an that i`d be wasting my money on it...
