Title: CAM Sensor
Post by: Robl21 on 14 April 2011, 21:04:54
Guys, sorry in advance for posting in this section as it wouldn't let me in the for sale/wanted section.

I am after a cam sensor for my 2.2i, does anyone have one for sale??

Thanks Jimbob - Just checking the VX parts catalogue - It works out as £56 in the trade club for a new one - Part no: 90520850 I reckon?? Are they simple enough to replace yourself or is it a pain?

Easy change - aux belt off, cambelt cover off, the spark plug cover off.  15mins to do the job :)

Cheers mate.....Just reading on here about it causing problems on the 2.2i....I have an issue between 2nd & 3rd gears it revs to 3000rpm before changing only occasionally and usually only when cold....As per my other thread i'm going to drop the oil on the gearbox and clean the filter out and replace with new gaskets etc....I was thinking of replacing the cam sensor as well on the basis of it being 'good practice' given that they seem to cause lots of problems on the 2.2i!!!

I probably wouldn't change it until it states causing issues ;)

Do you think I should just replace the ATF and leave it for now mate? If so, happy days and i'll spend the £56 on something else...Think i'm getting hooked and every post I read on here is giving me Ideas to replace all kinds of things on the car, enjoying it to be honest and keeping myself busy in the garage!!!

Also, any tips on cleaning the filter out, what is best to clean it with?

Your symptoms of hanging on until 3000 rpm when cold is normal. Perfectly normal, and by design (to heat the cat)

ATF change will never go amiss though, if its more than about 70k since last one.

Personally, I'd spend some of your 56 quid on a new filter mate. IIRC they are about 15 quid from JPAT, where you will get the gaskets too! (Link at top of this section!!)  :y

Thanks mate....Don't know if you have seen my new post on the other thread about changing the ATF but i'm going with the Fuchs Titan 4000 stuff you recommended....Wouldn't mind at some stage cleaning the selector switch out aswell if I can get my head around how to do it?!?!?!
