Title: Bonnet bump rubbers
Post by: PhilRich on 29 May 2011, 21:32:53
I need a complete set of rubber bump stops for a facelift bonnet (4off) & the ones from the bumper (2 off), can anyone help? My bonnet is cutting a groove in the bumper   :o  ;D

Hi Rob, as this is the 1st Omega i've owned I have nothing to compare 'like for like' so unsure what should be where? The pictures below show what I have/ have not got  :y

I thought these two holes & the 2 on the other side were for stop rubbers but not sure now?  :-[(http://i863.photobucket.com/albums/ab197/philrich1064/DSCF3762.jpg)

Both of these are present  :y

I thought these two holes in the bumper (only one shown) were for stop rubbers :-/

The push fit (non adjustable) rubber is missing from here, but present on the other side  :y

Nothing goes in the holes at the end of the bonnet :D
On the bumper you should have 2 rubber/plastic "clipstrips" each about 200mm long and they`re held in place by "pushpins" which go through those holes. I can`t access your photobucket link for some reason Phil :-/
Have you tried adjusting the bonnet stops either side of the latchpin to raise the "locked" position of the bonnet?

By the looks of things the bumper hasn't been fitted back on properly, as Rob said all that goes in the bumper are two push pins but you need to take the bumper back a bit to see the long strips that th bumper slides under.

The two holes in the wings, nothing goes in there at all, the other rubber stops you have in the wings anyway.

Shouldn`t be anything in those holes. In your first pic, towards the outside edge of the bonnet past the adjuster stops you should have flat rubber bungs about 6mm thick in those holes

Yes did that Rob, but the bonnet rattled so much at the 'correct' clearance I was worried it might come loose while on the move, so i've temporarily adjusted it to be a tight fit until I can source some rubbers  :y

Whatever you think I need (including those clipstrips) I will have off you mate (if you have it of course  ;D), it doesn't matter if the clipstrips are a different colour. Just let me know what you want for it all :y

Are you sure that the clipstrips aren`t under the bumper `cause if they`re fitted correctly the bonnet won`t hit, but if under the bumper they raise that by 3-4mm causing the "score" marking

I have taken some pics of whats on my bonnet. The first one is of both sides of the bonnet and as you can see there are two rubber bungs, one has no adjustment and the other does, this is for the height adjustment for the bonnet

and the other side of the bonnet
(http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u31/vauxhallomega1/014.jpg)

This is of the left side of the bumper, notice the short strip with the push pin in place next to it
(http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u31/vauxhallomega1/015.jpg)

The right side of the bumper, notice the longer strip with the push pin in place
(http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u31/vauxhallomega1/016-2.jpg)

I am guessing these are the parts you are needing.

 Are these the clipstrips?  :-?

If so, I see what you mean about the bonnet hitting if the clips are not fitted! :P
The bumper appears to be out of line with the clipstrip holes too! I think this car has a hidden history I know nothing about  :o

Right! now we know 'what's what' Rob, if you have whatever i'm missing (except my sanity! ;D) just let me know what you want for it/them & I will sort payment PDQ  :y

Thanks to you too VX1 for your input, it's much appreciated  :y
