There is civilisation out there! people who apreciate Omegas!
I'm the proud owner of a pre facelift estate 2.5 V6.
curently fairly unmolested, but the Mrs has given me the go-ahead to "tweek"
gutted I have only just found the forum, or I would have come to Santa Pod this weekend :'(
keep up the good work guys

Welcome to the site Road_Rescue :)
Shame you're not coming over to Santa Pod.
Are you local to the area?
-
Hi m8 and welcome to the forum :y
-
Keep your eyes peeled for a set of 3.0 cams....best mod for the 2.5!
-
Hello & welcome :)
-
hiya guys,
yup, i'm not a million miles from the Pod. (Milton Keynes)
3.0 cams- how does that work then Mark?
-
I work in MK, live in Brackley, so not a million miles from you...
Replacing your 2.5 cams with ones from 3.0l take it towards 200bhp...

liking the sound of that...
think i'll start by getting cambelt done first...

Hi road_rescue and welcome to the forum :y Not in the RAC or AA by any chance are you? ;)
There's going to be quite a few of us at the Pod all weekend so buy the Mrs and bunch of roses and try and get over :y 8-)
-
Not an RAC or AA patrolman sadly...
used to work in a recovery control room, name stuck!
might try and pop over, Mrs RR is as much of a petrolhead as me!
-
Plus we are in Concrete Cow land first to fit a set of heads on AllenM's car...because he didn't change his cambelt ::)
-
You've probably already read that to do v6 cambelt, a locking/timing kit is essential. The DVD available for £3 from Robin Hood is very, very useful too ;)
-
as its so misson critical, i'm getting it done profesionaly... £295 all in sound reasonable?

I really would consider doing it yourself, that way you know its right. Don;t be fooled thinking garages and dealers would do it properly. Many garages won't have a locking/timing kits and will just throw it one (GM v6 is rare in that the cams have adjustable timing), and its fairly common for dealers to put it on a tooth out...
Its the tensioners that fail, not belt, so these should be done. Also, I would do waterpump at same time.
Honestly, its one of the simpler jobs ;)
Don't believe me? Get the Cambelt DVD from Robin Hood and see for yourself :y
-
Or try & organise a cambelt party like I had at mine a couple of weeks ago (albeit mini).
You may be able to get a couple of knowledgeable people to drop by.
Let's face it; if I can do it with some help; anyone can ;)

Good evening and welcome to the site of civilisation ;)
