Decided to call the Elite LPG Facelift project D,

Now the car ran a little hot on the way back, 92 all the way......
I am 99.999999% sure its the oil cooler nackered:

As I said Sunday, I am sure the oil cooler has gone (unless previous owner had recently changed but not had time to do more flushes?)

I think there is too much there for that, I remember after yours was done, there was oil in there, but specs, not half a oil tanker!

Oh the first couple of flushes there was lots of oil. Double check with previous owner ;)

Ah... ...OK, defo needs doing. But you've helped do one before, so you'll have no probs - take your time, don't rush, and give it plenty of time to seal. If stat is weeping, reseal that as well. Remove all rubber coolant pipes and flush them through thoroughly. Same with rad. Same with waterpump and block. Possible you may have to replace waterpump seal, but I would try to delay that until changing cambelt and waterpump (ie after a few good flushes)
My top tips, from bitter experience...
1) Do NOT bend the oil pipes!
2) Do NOT shear the banjo bolts ;D

what was the deal with those banjo bolts?
They did not come with your kit? Did you get a part number for those? - I seam to remember they were supposed to be replaced

To flush the block, just run the hose though the oil cooler slot once removed?
Try to scoop out as much as poss from all orifaces.
Also, ensure the mating surfaces for new oil cooler plate are spotlessly clean, and very dry.

oil cooler for cert, dont bend the pipes, get new banjo bolts, dont reuse them they will shear...and torque everything as the bok says...
oooh and avoid Passats 8-)

no i need to buy one! - i might be going via halfrauds on the way back tonight. I would like to get the cooler done on Sunday....
Just checked, and Halfords have 2 wrenchs that look the same just higher and lower values:
this one does 8-60Nm

Plan to call buy tonight and pick up two torque wrenches, the lower and higher ones...
I posted in the other thread, that tool to remove the oil cooler pipes near the oil filter is called the "Crows Foot?"

should be - crows foot spanner, 19mm required for the job, you may not get them in Halfords
best way of describing them would be shaped like a 50p with the top taken off you may not get them as a spanner but more as an adaptor that will go on your ratchet,,,like the ones i bought below....

Cheers Markie, just checked Machine Mart, nothing listed for Crow foot, i will either go to a machine mart here or Halfraunds tonight, i only have time to go to one or the other
