Very true! I think he's going into comepition with MarkDTM on that score ;D

I've got to say though, it's rare to meet someone so young with as much enthusiam and love of his work as much as James does - top man :y

Rrrrrrr so that's what he looks like.

I'll be meeting James soon myself, i have an Oil cooler change to be done.

In the short time i've been with OOF, James is able to pin point problems.

Its gratifying to know, someone like James, is passionate and a professional.

Well, done.

Do you need photos taken while this is being done?

Rust, my ar*e! ::)

You'd better check your VIN and engine numbers tally, I'd suspect a counterfeit -- it's not a real Omega without rust! :D

Ahhh........I didn't imply there was no rust elsewhere on the car, just not on the wing ;)

As it happens there is a few small rust bubbles appearing on the tailgate just under the rear wiper. Taxi Driver mentioned that I might still be able to get it sorted out under VX's anti-corrosion warranty but as the cars just over 5 years old I need to check how long these warranties are valid for. :-?

Anti Perforation warranty is six years I believe. Supposed to have a yearly bodywork inspection stamp in the service book though as the stealers tend not to honour the claim....

You'll need to rub some salt into that rust regularly to get it to perforate before 6 years is up!

Yep 6 years....worth a try.....mind you, i had my tailgate done under warranty (same place) and its already bubbling again nicely  >:(
Ive also got rust on one of the wheel arches where its hits the sill  :( (so check there (you need to open rear doors and its at the bottom in the corner) as well Bob if your gonna see if you can blag it at the dealers)

I'll have to take mine back and see what the dealer says  :-/

Yep, decided to get it done before 80k as most of the guys on here recommend 40k replacement and I'm now on 71k. I believe there were a few premature failures of the tensioners so VX changed their recommendations to 40k. As it happens, James reckoned the belt was ok on mine but the tensioners had seen better days and might have only lasted another 5k.

At least it's done now and gives me a bit of peace of mind :y

How odd! I had the belts and tensioners replaced at 40k(ish)! And what's more, they gave me the old tensioners too, so I'm very confident they got done.  ::)

Bugger!! Didn't realise you'd had them done at 40k - was that in the service book as I'm sure I looked and couldn't find any record of it. I thought they had never been done and assumed 80k was the original recommended change.

Oh well, didn't cost me as much as normal so won't have to worry for another 40k now. ::)

I definitely mentioned it early in our negotiations bud'. I can't remember if it's in the service book specifically, but there should be a reciept from 'Drive' for all the bits and pieces from around January '06. Had to have the thermostat replaced at the same time. (£450 for a service that was!! OUCH!!). Still better safe than sorry eh!?!?  ;)

Pfff, VX anti-corrosion warranty  ;D Tried that not so long back for a 2001 33,000 mile FVSH Astra estate of ours that was starting to bubble the paint round the rear arches  :o After weeks and months of correspondance, Nidd-Vale in Harrogate came back with the definative answer....

.....STONE CHIPS  ;D On the REAR ARCHES would you believe! haha! Nobs. Despite the fact that both arches were going UNDER the paint and there was no damage to the outer paint surface, this was what they deduced and weren't going to repair, not even meet half way on costs. Gits.

Got a fantastic local guy to do a superb PROPER job for 150 squid  :y

So why hasn't the stone chipped bonnet gone rusty then?  ;D

Bob, post some pics up of your motor, looks the absolute business in that colour on those rims!  8-)
