Hi folks,
I'm a recent convert to the joys of car maintenance, and have spent a lot of time this past winter/spring getting to know my 1991 Mk2 Golf. Now I'm branching out and attempting to sort out a few problems with my girlfriend's Omega. She's had the car about 9 months, and this has mostly been trouble-free, but thirstyness and the occasional glimpse of an Orange Engine on the dash had me thinking there was stuff needing attention. It's a N reg 1996 2.0 DOHC Ecotec x20xev. Problems found so far:- a leaking air hose in the secondary air injection system, an utterly filthy throttle area, a completely blocked 'small' breather from valve-cover to just under the throttle butterfly, a seriously dodgy looking gasket 'tween ISCV and throttle body, err, and probably one or two other things I have forgotten just now.
So I'll save any other stuff until someone guides me to the appropriate forum sub-section/FAQ area for the kind of things I'm looking at, if someone would be so kind. :)
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to a productive and fun time on here.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
So, this site's looking like a bit of a goldmine! Already found the guide to cleaning out the ISCV, which I've had a look at already. The Maintenance guides and FAQs look damn handy, I'm about to learn a lot, I feel.
I shall be posting a query in a while relating to the 3-way junction where the 'small' cam-cover breather heads back into the intake. Spent a happy hour last night trying to clear out the dry, hard oil (etc) residue blocking the way through into the intake, with eventual success. Bit worried about the other two connections into this point, as they seem inevitably to be blocked also... No idea what bits they go to at this stage.
