Title: Hiya Folks
Post by: billybob on 04 June 2007, 19:52:33
;)Hiya Folks, just got myself an s plate omega elite, and what a beauty this car is. I didnt realise what extras meant till I drove this car home. Anyway, like everyone else, Im looking for inspiration and help to keep me motor on the road. I live in Bognor Regis (well. someone has to!! hee hee) Does anyone have any ideas how I can take off my towbar? Its easy to remove, (8 bolts ) under boot carpet, but I cant shift the bolts. I presume they are torqued. Any ideas would be appreciated, as I want to 'lose it' before my hols at end of June.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum :y

Soak them over several days with Plus Gas, it should help to free the bolts.

Hi Billybob and welcome.  After soaking, try a ring spanner in the boot and a socket from underneath (you may need a helper unless you have gadget arms).  Undo the bolts behind the bumper first to prevent damage when the weight crashes down.  :y

Well i'm astounded what a bunch of friendly and helpful guys you all are!! I will put the towbar in the for sale section. Its great to have some mates with Omega's. Has anyone got any tips or views on keeping my elite in tip top condition, obviously apart from the obvious cam belt and rollers and usual servicing. Any tips would be appreciated. i.e. Faults that develop etc.. Thanks in advance guys

Hiya Mate, Yeah I think ive sat behind him a few times!! Bless. Unfortunately, one of the disadvantages of living in a retirement area, is you spend your time trying to overtake the old boys in thier Beemers and mercs. But hey!! we'll all be there one day eh?
