After reading and using information from these forums many times in the past I thought it was time to actively get involved.
Been driving a 98 Elite Saloon for the past 5 years and despite it now having about 170k miles on the clock it has never let me down. Loved that car and its still such a beautiful car to drive but now relegated and standing idle on the drive as family needs have seen the purchase of Facelift 2001 2.2 CDX Estate which I hope will be perfect for an LPG conversion - hopefully one of you have been down that road already!!
Looking forward to getting well involved and getting to know you all well enough to use and abuse your skills and knowledge.
Cheers

LPG conversions? That should swiftly attract the attention of Martin Imber, our resident LPG guru! :)
So what is going to happen to the Elite?
If the price is right, I could be interested as I need a cheap runaround.
Oh and welcome, what kept you? ;)

Hi Martin, am probably spending over £600 a month on petrol and either its the LPG conversion or I need to downgrade to something like a manual Astra Diesel - and that aint happening so I'm hoping the LPG will save me some serious cash.
How has your diy conversion gone and does the car still run as smoothly. What equivalent mpg do you think your getting as well?
Cheers

Now thats a very good question about my Elite as I want to keep it as a bit of a plaything but the wife wants it gone from the drive asap - this will become a Titanic and the iceberg situation and I think I'm the ship!!
I've just spent about £550 on the car in the last few months (4 new tyres, new rear and mid section exchaust, new rear shocks, other bits and a fresh MOT) as I had no intention of changing but when the facelift estate came available at a silly price I just couldnt say no. Still have a few minor jobs to do and need to decide that if she has to go ( the car not the wife!) is it worth doing them or selling as is and trying to get about £800 notes for her or a little more if I make her perfect again. Such a shame these cars never actually realise their book value (£1400ish) but thats one of the reasons we all drive em.
Let me know if your interested and I will email you over full pics and her details as I wouldnt mind so much if it went to an enthusiast as the car is just too good.
Cheers
Jim
PS have posted in the wanted section some needs for the CDX Estate as I want to bring her up to Elite Spec if possible so if you have any good contacts with Vauxhall breakers then maybe we could do a deal.

Went quite well - not properly adjusted though - still have a few more issues to sort before getting it adjusted properly (thermostat, breathers), consumption is about 10-20% worse than petrol

Hi bob - just moved from Hitchin to over the border near Biggleswade.
Not too far away from me then. While I was married I used to live in Langford which is just outside Biggleswade and then moved up the road a bit to Sandy. My nephew lives in Biggleswade so I pop over there on the occassional weekends and have a few beers with him.
