Title: Crapping Myself
Post by: dtnorth on 17 August 2007, 00:05:49
Iv'e got a 2002 Omega Sport that I have had to SORN, as I feared the cost of an MOT as I've driven it to
99,000 miles.

I think its going to be suspension all round. Brakes all round including discs.

I sourced the front discs/pads on Ebay at £45.

All steering linkages, Wheel bushes need doing.

I have no choice other than to take it to one of these corporate liars with their
teenage underpaid fitters.

Then I think why bother.   I go to a Tesco car park.   Next thing there is a massive gouge in the wing of my car.
4x4 types

The pig ignorant self indulgants have taken over.   I've got dents in all 4 doors due to these shits.

Are the eBay discs GM? non-original discs will get you through the MOT but they don't work very well n the Omega. Did you get the pads with them as well? And you will also need one wear sensor.

I am a bit surprised that the suspension has so many perished components at just 99k, it is generally quite robust (though you do get the odd drop ling or ball joint wearing etc).

I sympathise with the Tesco car park problem, you should see my car...  :(

@99,000 miles it may not be as bad as you think, mine failed on silly stuff @114,000.

As for the gouges, is there CCTV that you can ask to access to see if they culprits are about to be seen?

Good luck

Take it somewhere trust worthy for one of these pre-MOT's if you're not confident enough yourself to give your car a once over before a real MOT. Just because it's almost reached the magical 100 000 miles doesn't automatically mean your car is Donald Ducked.  ;)  :y

Park as far from the door as possible. The lazy slobs don't do walking.

Then again, leaving Mrs. Kevin Wood to do the shopping is an even better plan ::)

Pfff! That doesn't work either, no matter how far away you park some idiot always comes and parks right next to you. Happened the other day in A$DA (taunton) some a$$hole in a camper van pulled up next to ours leaving just a nice enough gap for some scally to walk alongside and key right down the N/S  >:(

You beat me too it the amount of times that I've seen kids open the back doors and "bump" right into the car parked next to it >:(
