I am new to this camping lark and thought that some of you may be able to help and advise me, I want to buy a new tent and am looking to find one that is easy to pitch but also a fairly good quality in as far as keeping out the elements etc, it would need to be a 3-4 man tent or higher, so if anyone can advise me I would be most grateful :)

Just got one myself, take it out of the bag, throw it up in the air lands all erected, put 6 pegs in happy days :y £40 from Millets, waterproof (something about 2000mm) :-?

That 2000 will be hydrostatic head. 2000 is quite low - if heavy rain, you may get a 'mist' inside. Those stood under my gazebo today know exactly what I mean.
The 'greenhouse' which many saw at lakes meet is 4500 hydrostatic head.

Camping aint fun when its raining, esp if your tent isn't tall enough to do things in...

Personally recommend the Family Khamsin, basically due to the ease to pitch, and the Geodesic design, enough height inside, downside is that they are expensive, and you could potentially get cheaper and larger tents. key in design for me though is the poles and geo design the khamsin poles are T7 aluminium (VERY LIGHT). If you are going for a tent I would recommend either aluminium or steel poles (carbon fibre poles I now steer clear of). Good point about the tent it is self supporting, and you only need to peg out the guy ropes if it gets really really windy :y

3-4 man, nooooooooo, what you need is a nice big 16-20 man. Bath Tub ground sheet so who cares if its raining, living room big enough to hold the all important footbar game and a porch big enough for all the spectators and beer of course :D

Or the 'greenhouse', as you can get the car in it ;)

I prefer my aluminium, wood, GRP, and ABS I think holiday home on wheels

I agree with Martin. The best tents have wheels, a kitchen, toilet, shower and comfy beds. You also have the perfect car to tow it with. :y :y

there's nothing like a bit of under the canvas action to make you feel alive ;D

get a tent, why get a nice, well equipped, luxury & fast car, then restrict yourself by towing a shed all over the place, get an outwell Hartford you will love it. As you are not towing & not restricted speed wise you can be at the bar first :y

My tent has a bloody great queen size bed, incredibly comfy, far better than any caravan bed I've ever slept on.

I had a caravan myself until about a month ago when i sold it on Fleabay as I was so fed up with the weather. I hated towing especially down those tight lanes in Cornwall i used to close my eyes and squeeze my arse cheeks ;D ;D ;D
Glad see the back of it :y

Just gotta buy all the gubbens that goes with it now ;D
Was gonna go for the Rage Adult sleeping bag @ £24.99
And Campingaz smart quickbed single @ £15.55 (woulda like the double size but i think its too big looking at the sleeping dimensions of the tent :-/
Both from www.tentastic.co.uk

one of my tents has a huge foyer so decided to get a campingas double blow up bed and just sleep in the centre of it!! the others should had a large enough sleeping area to house it. i cant wait till we get a bit better weather and have a few days out !!!!!
