I used to do a lot of Kayaking including flat water K class racing (for the county) and a bit of slalom work including shooting the numerous wiers into the backwater on the Nene around Peterborough area etc.....Also went to symons yat (or how ever it spelt!) a few times plus Orton and vaious others including a trip to the Ardeche...
My ultimate was Devises to Westminster in a K2 with a friend....... 110 miles non-stop!
I now live within 2 miles of the National water sport centre with the slalom course and regatta lake and dont do anything! :-[

including a trip to the Ardeche...
been on hols there (the time the mv6 broke down), swam in the river with the big arch. never got around to the kayaking though :(

Did you climb up through the caves and jump out the side of the arch into the river?
-
I used to do that many years ago. Almost met my end on the River Barle on Exmoor. Capsized with the front wedged between two rocks in 18 inches of white water and couldn't roll out. Funny how you can do amazing things when you think your life is in danger. Anyway, somehow managed to get out and found out that I had a big hole in the bottom so I had to put it on my back and walk two miles downstream, soaking wet in the middle of January with snow on the ground, to where we were being picked up.
I never did much kayaking after that. Take it easy and enjoy. :y :y

Yup. Surprising high when you look down through the hole [smiley=lolk.gif]
