Just got my first Omega, a CDX 2.5V6, to replace my beloved Honda
Prelude Vtec that was just costing me too much to keep going as she got older (and getting me a lot of earache from my better half because of it!) I got the Omega because a mate at work had one and recommended it, I also needed a bigger car now that I've got a grandson to join the existing brood (have any of you seen just how much space there is in the back of a Prelude!)but I also wanted something with a bit of poke when needed.First impressions ? Well, it is a LOT of car for your money, mainly,I guess because of the "old man's" image and the fact that they are quite thirsty. When I was looking at reviews on the web they were all very favourable except for reliability but then a lot of the recurring problems (eg water/oil leaks) seem to be not too costly to put right and this forum in particular seemed very good at providing the right information and knowhow to cut down or avoid costly repair bills. So far I'm enjoying the ride. The mpg is abit higher than the Prelude and the ride setup is obviously softer but, despite more "roll", the handling is very good for a big car and "sports" mode, although no real match for the roar of the vtec, puts that smile on the face when you've just left that Boy Racer behind who'se been trying to get up your backside ! Equipment levels are very good--though I think, to quote Victror Meldrew, that the onboard computer talks a language of complete bo****ks (it once gave me a fuel consumption of 199.99 mpg!!).Overall I'm enjoying the ride and looking forward to hopefully making some new friends on the forum.
