hello,
it's time to replace my cars and i've been looking toward the omega estate as an all round car.
i've been looking at the 2001> 3.2 v6 version. can anyone give me any information about performance and reliability. i'm unsure about the difference between the elite and the mv6? which is the better and whats the difference? i presume both come with the manual transmition option? also, what equipment comes as standard and what is optional extra, e.g does the vehicle come with oil pressure and volt guages as standard or as an extra, or, are these options not available for the omega. I'm trying to gather as much information as possible but do not know where to look.
-What makes it more difficult is the fact that i live in Jersey and i've not yet seen a single facelift version over here to look at or test drive!!

Hello & Welcome
No Volt / Amp guage's on any :(
Fairly reliable if well serviced, few common faults spring up, but rarely anything too challenging.
MV6 is nearer CD spec, but has uprated suspension
Elite a softer ride, but ALL the toys
Auto is the only option you will find for a 3.2 unless it is ex police.
Manuals available on all others (but not as common as auto)

Hi Spoon and welcome to OOF. :)
I currently drive a 2002 3.2 MV6 Estate and love it. Spec is pretty good for a sports model but not as many toys as the Elite. A much firmer ride due to the stiffer suspension but still extremely comfortable.
Full leather, dual climate, HID headlights, cruise, premium sound system with integrated 4 disc CD player to name a few, but no oil pressure or volt gauges. Most information is displayed on the MID (multi information display) screen. Mine has been very reliable in the 17 months I've had it. Apart from routine servicing and a cambelt/tensioner change, the only breakdown was due to HBV (heater bypass valve) failure which is quite common with Omega's. Obviously it's not a particularly economical car with consumption between 20 - 28mpg depending on type of journey and how you drive.
Power is around the 220bhp mark and 0-60 approx. 7.5 seconds and top speed around 150mph (slightly less for an auto estate)
All I can add to that is.........go for it. :y
