8-) I have just been given an Omega FOC from a mate moving abroad, never had one before but a fantastic drive, 1998, 2.5i V6 with 10 months MOT. I drove this home yesterday and am now wondering what is the achilles heel of the Omega? one at a time please......

Hi, welcome to the forum. :y
Regular oil changes and keep to service schedules and eny 10's 000's miles of motoring. :y

Obviously servicing with Vauxhall is damned expensive so I have a 'man who can' but this shouldn't be an Omega no-no? :-/

Good evening and welcome :y

I found a reference to a DVD on changing a cam belt, some bloke called Robin Hood, after following the link I ended up in a conversation that ended 2 years ago. Does this DVD still exist, did Robin Hood ever exist, can the over Lords advise on cam belt replacement?, all these questions and more........How about that Obama chap, or are politics against the T's and C's

DVD's can be found in the shop on here --- all those questions (and more) can be answered by posting them in the relevant places (people tend to visit the threads they know stuff about more often) --- Obama, politics and much more gets discudded in General Chat -- pop in there sometime and get to know the indiginous wildlife :y

Hello and a very warm welcome to you Dr Grooner! :y

Welcome aboard matey. Free Mig? No wonder you're happy. Like any car they can be a pain at times but well worth it when they're right.
Main thing is the cambelt. Whole kit inc. tensioners MUST be done every 40k or 4 years. Plenty of oil/filter changes with Vx semi synthetic should see a Big 6 covering intergalactic miles & still pulling like a train. 8-)

Guy's hit the nail on the head! Also use the correct antifreeze mix (plain water eats away the head gasket if I remember correctly)

Hi Doc and welcome to OOF. :) I use an independent garage for all my servicing without any probs, although they do specialise in Vauxhall and BMW. As long as they're decent mechanics it shouldn't be a problem.
BTW, I take it you're an Arsenal fan from your forum name. I'm a Spurs fan for my sins! ::) ;)
