Title: Bank holiday roads
Post by: STMO123 on 24 August 2007, 20:02:54
Went over to Liverpool today to see my granddaughters. It's usually an hour and a half there, bit longer back(dont ask). Today, two hours there, two and a quarter back.
Dont know whether it was the sunshine, bank holiday getaway or just plain madness. Three pile-ups on the way there and three on the way back. Not small ones either.
One thing I did learn today though, these new civvy motorway patrollers are damn good. On at least two occasions the whole caboodle was shifted to the hard shoulder before there was any sign of a traffic cop (I dare say that couldn't happen in the case of serious injury/fatalities, as the police would need to investigate)

Well done guys :y

You don't think the pile ups were caused by motorists being irresponsible & using a certain brand of tyre do you ??

total chaos on the roads today...... >:(

Took 6.5 hours to get from Nottingham to Plymouth, normally only takes 3.....

Traffic jam on the M1, M42 and then some nutter tried to shoot a copper on the M5!!!.

Bristol was its usual chaos and people just dont seem to giva an inch when it is like that...

And to think we pay a fortune in road tax and petrol for the privilige.....why is it always like this  >:(

Took me 30 minutes to get 1/2 a mile through our village today.

They caused chaos about 6 months ago rearranging a junction on the main road. Today they decide to dig it up again to alter the drains >:(

The signposts are better going. Liverpool is signed from where you get on the 62, but you won't see Wakefield signs till about Leeds I guess, so do you just get lost?
They say the elderly have no sense of direction.  ;D

I had a nice easy drive back from Durham this morning, set off at 8am and got back at 11am. Never went over 70mph and just enjoyed the lack of traffic :y

:oI find it ironic that on b/h weekends many people take to the roads to "getaway" while i'm happy to leave them all to it and just potter around locally. For me a few days at home is a holiday! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
