Post by: Christian on 24 December 2008, 18:11:14
Hi guys, im new to the Forum and im also good mates with Bighed on here.

ive just got rid of my belovid Astra and now have 1500 quid to spend but must be a V6, i will also have around an extra 500-800 quid to spend on the Omega when i get it ie Timing belt and extra's.

I was once a Technician with Vauxhall many moons ago (around) 5 yrs ago ans am looking for good advice and info if i need it in which Bighed pointed me too here.

Merry Christamas

Looks a clean and tidy car but depending on the mileage i personally wouldnt pay more than £500 for it

67k she's done and why would you not pay more than you stated? Looking on teh net a while now and seem to be all that price with low milage, can you come up with better as ide be intrested  :)

Mine isnt for sale unfortunately but i got it from ebay in June its a 2.5 V6 CDX everything works and it had done 72,000 miles came with 4 months tax and 5 months m.o.t. very clean inside and out runs A1 all i have spent on it was the other day doing the plugs and fuel filter after water leaked through the wiper arm spindle into the plug well i paid £600 and its a Facelift model too
So just saying they are out there my mate got a 51 plate for £900 the other week 102,000 miles though which is just run in in my opinion

looking on parkers, you'll easily get a top end facelift around the 2001 age for your price, the 3.2's are listed as £1600 for the earliest ones!!

Been looking quite abit and its gotta have the spec ie leathers and the nicer wheels, hence the choice ive made as ile be sticking with it as i often keep my cars 3 years plus.

Also this has low milage of 67k.

Also dont wanna be traveling the country too far as this one is 55 miles down the road.  :)

Just an update guys, ive offered this guy 1500 quid and he said he will take it and to give him a call.

What do you think with the service history, obviously my first port of call would be timing belt replacment.

Feedback appreciated  :)

Thanks for all your help so far, one of the most helpfull forums ive signed upto as yet , cheers .

Does look rather nice, and seems well looked after, my first job would be cambelt and coolant change anyway, with the oil also.

Bearing in mind if i have it ile have around 500-800 pound to spend on it in maintanance and getting it upto scratch.

looking at it, i doubt you'll need that much!!

one of the latest pre-facelift cars as well on a W plate

see if you can get a test drive at higher speeds, those MV6 alloys can buckle easily so if there's kerb marks then you want to make sure the wheels are straight with no wobbles!
