Title: Buying an omega for the first time
Post by: crystalgrand on 17 January 2009, 21:45:40
am about to buy my first omega tomorrow sunday.
it is a 1999 2.5 cdx 115,000 miles with 4 owners.
it is mot'd and taxed till april this year.
it has a receipt for timing belt renewal 6000 miles ago.
cost is £800.
is this a fair price for a car in nice but not perfect condition.
are there any really serious faults to look for specific to omega.
i will obviously check for gunge on oil filler cap and radiator resevoir.
and temp guage and oil warnings when running.
hope someone can give me any pointers.
i have read loads of negative comments and an equal number of
glowing reports so i think ownership might be a slight gamble !

many thanks
Barry in Bearsden, Glasgow

Hi and welcome to the forum... :y
I think the price maybe slightly high being honest.... as for things to look for you have mentioned a couple, maybe worth pulling a lead out to see if there is any oil in the plugwells, if there is you can tell them that VX charge about 250-300 quid to do... Make sure the tyres are worn on the edges
