Post by: Cybertrucker on 01 March 2009, 19:37:46: Hi, I've just joined this forum, having recently acquired an Omega 2.5 diesel CDX. For the last eight years I've been the proud owner of a Mk 3 Granada, and having found the Granada forum (http://www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com) extremely helpful for a few years I thought I'd join its Omega equivalent right from the start.

I have to say that the Omega, especially the CDX (top of the range?) is a hell of a car! Loads of electrics and goodies. The car only seems to have three drawbacks:

1. It's not my beloved Granada! :'(
2. It's an automatic
3. The ride seems a little hard (I suspect it might have some sort of sporty suspension - it sticks to the road like glue, but shakes the fillings out of your teeth)

Apart from that, and a few minor problems like the speedo not working (I knew that satnav would come in useful one day! - it's the only way of telling how fast I'm going at the moment) it's a good little motor.

So, hopefully I'll get some useful information from the forum, and once I get to find my way round the car I'll try to contribute. I contributed quite a bit to the technical section of the Granada forum, but at the moment my technical knowledge of the Omega extends only to putting oil in the engine...

No the CDX is not top of the range. That accolade belongs to the 'Elite' with a few more toys! :D :D ;)

If you want an Elite, just ad the extras, that's what i did. I don't like sun roofs or the alloys on the CDX/Elite's so i purchsed a CD & added the extra spec to my standard :) :)

As an Ex-Granada Scorpio owner.... I'm afraid to admit that I never thought there would be a nicer car, or a better tow-car,... until my first Omega (2.5 Elite) .... it beat the old granny in every area but one .... and that is the load space ... the "hatchback" style of the granny was brilliant, and it took a long tiime to get used to a "boot".

Having said that .. the boot is huge (or it was until I stuck an 80 litre LPG tank in it !!) ... something that would have ruined the hatchback idea of the granny...

I'm afraid its granny 1 - miggy 5 ... :(

Post by: amigov6 on 04 March 2009, 00:25:37: Welcome aboard from another HGV positive member! (FH GLOBIE container work) Drove Mk3 Grannies years ago as cabs, they did the job. Changed to Migs @ M reg, much better. They are a little firmer but handle so much better. :y
