Title: Moved from legal thread
Post by: hotel21 on 26 August 2007, 11:17:38
To try and get the Legal Questions thread back towards what it was initially introduced for, herewith the response that I would put for the quoted noisy neighbour scenario....  Remember, however, that mutual discussion to resolve issues is better than confrontation which can and does aggrevate the matter.

Not that I condone or support any of the following childish behaviour but some of what I have seen over the years.

Neighbours in the garden next door in a late night drink fuelled noisy party mood whilst kids are trying to sleep next door - garden sprinkler being switched on and rotating in turn onto said party peeps.

Noisy BBQ next door?  Check the way the wind is blowing and light up yours.  Burning some particularly smoky/smelly noxious substance.

Late party next door through the wall?  Starting around 0830 rather than late evening trying your new surround sound system at 'testing' levels, playing the opening beach sequence for Saving Private Ryan....  Several times....

and similar.

I used to have a noisy neighbour. He would play his music so loud that I couldn't hear the telly. I got hold of his phone number and used to ring him up. As soon as he turned the music down to answer the phone I would hang up. Music went up again, I called again, and so on and so on until he got the message.

Childish but fun.  ;D ;D ;D

I'm surprised an MV6 with no exhausts didn't feature in Hotel21's solution....

The guy next door to me leaves his patio door open and music blasting, of course he is in another room so i just turn it down as i can reach the stereo without entering his house. . :y

With our semi detached neighbours I used Matrix lobby scene more than once at half volume, which is very near the limit for all 5!

I really sympathise with all of you, i am also having trouble with the neighbours, as the most of them are Russian.
Now i don`t want to start an argument about other nationalities as i am a Foreigner here too, but there is no reasoning with these people.
There life starts at about ten O`clock at night with banging and hammering about the place and then the bloody noise of all the gibbering in the Garden should really do that what Hotel21 suggests with Garden sprinkler.
But to get serious, swmbo is getting to the end of her tether and has told me she wants to move out, before it comes to punching each other which is going to happen very soon if things carry on the way it is.

We are now looking at a nice countryside house about 50 miles away from all this with no Russians >:(

yep saving private ryan is a really good way of testing your surround sound system...i always ask customers if they have got a copy so that i can demonstrte it to em.... ;D  ;D  ;D another good way of getting your own back is to hold a party yourself the next night whilst they are trying to sleep... :y

I wish I knew how to get one of these replacement remote controls to 'tune in' to other peoples kit. I could have fun with that when it gets a bit loud next door ::)
