Title: Just popped in to say Hi to everyone
Post by: Ziad on 08 April 2009, 20:06:58
Hi guys ...

Just got myself an Opel Omega 3.0 V6. It's a 2000 model with 72,000 km on the clock. I just wanted to know at what mileage i need to change my Cam belt.

Thanks  ;)

Hello Ziad and a very warm welcome to you! :y

It is recommended you replace your cam belt every 40k miles, or every four years,  which ever is the sooner.  Change the tensioners at the same time, and it is advisable to replace the water pump on V6's. :y :y

EDIT:  Sorry Jimbob, you typed faster! ;D ;D ;)

Is it the Pre face lift? mines a 2000 model, if its the ccrt 700 unit you just pop off the front facia and there will be a credit card end visale, just push it and it will spring out!  :)

Small round button left of the square centre buttons releases the square buttons, card slots in behind.

Hi zaid and welcome to the forum, I was made most welcome as I know you will be, the help on this site is friendly and fantastic. I bought a 2002 2.6 Elite which had covered only 8,200 miles, it was one of the guys on the forum that recommended I have the cam belt changed, I was grateful for the advice and had it changed, can't beat piece of mind !

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If theres no history of the cambelt been changed, then I would book it in STRAIGHT away. Otherwise, 4 yrs / 40k miles as others have said.  :y

Thanks djm 1964 - it's actually got the Irmscher front kit  ;)

I love my Omega. I dont have any history of a cam belt change so I just booked it for one. I am also changing the auxilliary drive belt ... i guess it's time for that, specially in this hot country
