I will ask if this is ok first (admins) can i post my son's forum address on here as he is wanting to know if any of you good ol' omega owners have gaming nuts as children or if you are gaming nuts yourself and want to go on his new forum to talk about all these game console's and what not. :-?

Lol he wanted me of all people to join i mean i like the occasional game of COD 3 and The Outfit but other than that me an xbox and playstation's are not all together he made it tonight and wanted some of the gamer's off here to join.

Lol i forgot to say i like forza 2 amazing graphics on HDTV but now he has the full system the elite has came out now he wants that lol you should get a game m8 it's worth it, not that i play it at all :-X

I have no interest in most games - don't mind the odd arcade type, but not the modern ones where you have to spend months getting into. The occasional 5mins is all I have time for.

I have no interest in most games - don't mind the odd arcade type, but not the modern ones where you have to spend months getting into. The occasional 5mins is all I have time for.
Lol i like the arcade games like pac-man and dig dug that sort of thing the classics you know. Good thing is that you can download them from the xbox live thing.

My sentiments exactly. I was recounting this to Emma's stepdad over Christmas when he went and rummaged in his garage and emerged with an original table top Taito Space Invaders machine :y
Of course I got bored of playing with it after 5 minutes so I had to take it to bits, and you can actually take these machines to bits and work out how they work! What a lot of TTL to do what a decent digital watch will do these days!

If it's not been said already, then fair play to the lad for taking the time to set up and configure his forum. Regardless of the fact it might not have any members yet - It's a far better thing to be doing than smoking illegal substances in the local park, which most of the youths around here seem to enjoy doing.
On the subject of games, I must admit it's not something I've ever been into, especially not the games that require hours of attention. I personally like flight sims.. where I can make the aircraft crash and burn when I'm bored of it ;D

I agree in every respect. I even crash landed a Cessna on the Secon Severn Crossing the other day. ;)

I agree, though he has backed himself in to a corner by using a free service subhosted on a free host. The most important part - the URL - is tied to that, and if the community outgrows the current setup, or if the free host causes any issues, you're knackered.
Last game I invested time in was the original DOOM/DOOM II games, esp multiplayer (over modems in those days) until the milkman used to deliver (5am ish). Stopped when I started having funny dreams :o

I was leading an embedded software team at the time DOOM was popular. We had been pressing the boss for ages to get hold of the hardware for which we were developing so we could start benchmarking things and know if it was going to fly.
The boss duly exchanged a gonad or two for one of the first units to come off the production line. Imagine the look on his fact when he walked into the development lab to find one of my team "testing the graphics performance" by running DOOM on it ;D

Occassionally, when building servers (which are built normally off a Redhat Kickstart or Solaris JET VM running on laptop, with little user intervention), I fire up DOOM from USB memory, and have a little game. Or if I'm in Derby datacentre, go down the pub with Laidback..... ::)

I have to agree with the free hosting but it does offer you a domain manager so you can put a domain you have bought on there which i personally think is a good idea.
