Who remembers sweets, comics, TV programmes etc from their childhood that you just don't see anymore?

During the winter of '61, I would walk to school on the banks of snow piled up high alongside the pavement and at the tuck shop I'd buy one of those football cards which featured great players like Frank McLintock and Nobby Stiles then I'd....

All the family sitting around the radio after sunday lunch to listen to "Around the Horn" and at night hiding under the bedclothes trying to tune a crystal set into "Radio Luxembourg - the great 208 - the wing a ding station of the stars".. and the first thing you heard was the advert from Horace Batchelor .. part of which a present member seems to use in his signature ..... :) (unless I'm confusing sites ... I'm on too many these days) :(

I had a Raleigh Chopper. The back tyre had a red stripe on it as I recall and a gear leaver mounted on the crossbar.

I Remember the chopper was very "swavey" because of the small front wheel i fell of it in the early 70`s and splitt my chin open 3 Stiches in Basildon Hospital...........Mum sold my bike :'( :'(

I,m a 70,s baby and born in new york came to uk when i was 4. Used to love the big ford 3.0 Grandads in the sweeny and also use to have a Raleigh Stricker and then as i grow up a Raleigh Griffer with the 3 gears on the handle bar.

I remember most of these but the thing i do remember as a kid was going out to play all day without fear of pedos, weirdos and nutcases's. when life did not revolve around the T.V P.C or games consoles, when we used to knock up a soapbox with some old pram wheels and a bit of wood we found at the back of dads shed, when breaking the law was going scrumping and having a fag after school, when being told off by our elders ment we felt humble and nowing we had overstepped the mark, not telling them to f#*k off..........................................oh those were the days. :(

Making a 'skateboard' (before we knew of such things) out of last years Victor or Eagle annual and the one metal rollerskate left in the back garden....
Then sitting on the fri**in thing, getting a push start from your bestest pal, down the steepest pavement you could find trying to steer by putting your weight onto each bum cheek in turn.... ;D

Aye, and extending the front forks with a couple of lengths of whatever steel conduit you could rob find near your local building site, hammered onto the existing forks. No bolts, just hammered on.... Who needs front brakes.... :D
