Hi all fellow Omega fans,
I am the owner of my second Vauxhall Omega. I am from Leeds and I have just joined up here, as it is coming around to that time of year again when things need dealing with (minor repairs/service/tax/mot/etc.) and I need to think about whether I should keep my lovely car and fix her up good as new or consider selling her to a good home and downgrading to something more practical. My car is a Y reg (2001 I think) 2.5 manual petrol saloon in dark blue and is really lovely but I am worried she might cost me an arm and a leg to keep her running smoothly so I am starting to consider my options.

Welcome to OOF K :y There is plenty of free advice on here and I'm sure someone nearby will have a trade club card to keep costs down ;)

Thanks for the welcome messages guys. I guess this must be a very busy forum with such swift responses, I am quite impressed! As you seem like such a friendly bunch, here is a bit more background on me and my cars.... Even though I am almost 34 years old, I only got round to passing my driving test in July 2007 and being quite a big fella, my first car (initially just to learn to drive in) which was parked outside my work for sale at £500 which I thought looked very good value so I bought it for cash off some random stranger! It was a '94 2.0 litre manual petrol in maroon and lasted me for ages until she started rattling badly about a year ago, so I sold her for £100 on ebay to someone who I couldn't believe was so pleased to take her! I did like the old girl so much (as we went though a lot together!) that I decided to get another newer and nicer Omega which I saw in the local paper for £900. So far I have been amazed at how lucky I have been with these cars so far. Now I have just got a new dog and I am not driving around too much so I am looking either to upgrade again (and totally spoil myself!) or perhaps just be boring and fix mine up and run her for a while longer if I can. I need a new drivers side wing mirror (as some git smashed mine off the other day) and have her booked in for a bog standard pre-MOT type service with my uncle who is a mechanic in a couple of weeks. If she gets the all clear mechanically at service and is expected to fly through the MOT then I will be very happy and might treat her to a new set of tyres and balancing!
