Title: Biggest mistake of my life
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 01 September 2007, 08:45:20
Well.. probably not actually.. but still a big mistake.

I used to own a VERY fine car, when I Was 19. Peugeot 605 3.0 V6 24v SVE, M reg, mint black leather. This car was STUNNING, especially on the 19" Pug alloys.

I bought it for £1000. Discovered afterwards it had a few issues, namely PAS pump dying, and heater matrix seeping. And a slight oil leak.

At the time, I didn't have the level of confidence I have now with cars, and I wasn't confident in doing the jobs. So I spoke to the dealer where I bought the car from, and he offered to swap for a Peugeot 405 2.0 Estate. Which I stupidly did.

Three days later, the engine block cracked on the 405 Estate, and there was nothing he would do to help.

So I may as well have put 1000 notes down the drain :(

I just wish I'd have parked up this car somewhere, for now! The 605, I have a bit of a passion for, it is becoming VERY rare, and I would be prepared to put money on the fact that my, beautiful unmarked 605, was by far the nicest one in the country  :'(

I keep looking, currently none on eBay, and no SVE models on autotrader..  :-/

Put it down to experience James.

An experience you prefer to forget,  I too sold a car a few years ago a Scorpio Turbo Diesel, Don"t start me off i"ve run out of tissues.

They only made the 24v 605 for 2 years.

Lovely car, friend had one. manual, damn quick and handled bl**dy well for such a big car.

You can find them, but they are rare and parts are not cheap for them.

However the electrics are about as good as an old Alfa!

Speaking of rare... find a 164 3.0 24v cloverleaf. ;)
I owned one, and wish I hadn't sold it. :(
Glorious sound, handled beautifully but the electrics drove me nuts!

Yes i had one of these rare beasts as well - totally standard and also in black. But no cream leather for me... :(

Fantastic ride but started to cost LOTS to upkeep, replaced ALL the brake pipes and pads / discs before decidig enough was enough

My mistake was to replace Vauxhall's finest with ...................  an Omega! ;)

Should've kept my 24v Senator
