Title: An immigrant newbie
Post by: Reidy79 on 17 June 2010, 11:51:35
Hi Guys,

Just thought I should pop in here and say hi

I don't actually own an omega  :-/ but have registered on behalf of my girlfriends dad

You were recomended from another forum

Basically he has an issue with his auto gearbox and has been quoted £700+ to replace the ECU to solve the issue

Details are a bit vague at the moment but from what he has told me, it jumps out of gear, keeps dropping into limp home mode and he is having to essentially use it as a manual

I popped into the FAQ and common issues section prior to registering and it looks like this may be a common issue that can be solved by a remap of the ECU?

My apologies for a bit of a weird first post, this looks like a very welcoming forum and I can assure you if the site has membership fees or any donation system I will be throwing something your way by a way of thanks and to keep the site running as it looks like a very knowledgable place

Cheers

Reidy  :)

Hello and welcome, sounds more gearbox than ecu related to me.

I would be checking the fluid level to start with.

Cheers I will do, I am just waiting to speak to him as I am assuming getting all the model details as well as more specifics of the issue will help and not waste everyones time

I don't know if any of you guys frequent Pistonheads but you come very highly recommended from over there  :)

Ahh ok cheers, I will definitely get some more specifics and post them up

Cheers for the friendly welcome I feel a bit cheeky even asking as I don't own an Omega

I have always thought they were a very good Q car though  ;)
