i own a calibra c20xe atm, and i want something bigger (five seats)...but i dont want to miss my cally, which omega is as fast as the xe, while keeping the same sort of mpg and car tax rate?
i know there are plenty of omega's that are faster than the xe calibra, but i want one on par..?

maybe a 2.5/2.6 manual. Welcome to the forum :y
-
are there many veriants of the 2.5? are they all the same bhp, 0-60 etc etc?
are there any common problems with the omega i should look out for...
and last but not the last :D i was thinking of keeping my calibra engine spare in the garage, is it hard to transplant in to the omega, are the mounts in the same place? is there a exhaust manifold that will just plug and play?

Hi Carl, and welcome to the forum!
In answer to your question, you're not got to find an Omega that can complete on mpg AND performance with your Calibra I'm afraid. The Omega is a much heavier car, so you can't have both.
A 2.5/2.6 Omega should give comparable performance to your Calibra, but will be more thirsty.
If you're looking for economy, the 2.2 dti is good, but under powered, and the 2.5TD with it's BMW diesel provides better grunt but at the expense of some mpg.
Probably the best all round Omega these days is a late model 3.2 V6 petrol with an LPG converstion - truely the best of both worlds! :y
