Title: I have done it
Post by: miggy on 26 August 2007, 22:30:08
Finally made up my mind, I went to have another look at the miggy today, its now on my drive, felt sad to leave mine there but i am well pleased with the CDX 2.6, goes like a rocket, its in excellent condition, when i got back i gave it the sir miggy treatment.

Took some time for me to make up my mind, i was a bit nervious about the auto box when pulling the caravan but some of your comments on previous posts eased my mind.

i will post some pictures on the gallery tomorrow as I will be doing the leather seats tomorrow, can anyone recommend a good leather cleaner, i have tried soap and water but she needs something a little stronger, plus a treatment at the same time.

No mate, got her for 6k plus 12 months tax, free set of fitted omega logo mats, tank of fuel and 12 months warrenty. He even said that he will remove the towing kit and send it on to me so I can fit to the cdx.

well happy

She looks a real cracker Miggy. Why not give her a spin up to Newent so we can all have a good look? Well done, you have really taken your time over this so I'm sure you have done the right thing.  :)

Leather cleaners

Auto express test 16 leather cleaners to see which can give some extra pizzazz to your trim

The Test

When it comes to looking after your car's leather interior, there's no place to hide. Leave your trim to dry, crack and fade, and you will slash hundreds off the resale value of your car.

Special cleaners not only shift the grime from leather, but they also replenish the natural oils that keep the hide soft and supple. Starve the material of the vital nutrients contained in these cleaners for too long, and it may be too late to rescue your interior.

But which one is the ideal candidate to refresh and revive your cabin trim? We put 16 cleaning products to the test on a neglected leather interior to find out.

Don't pay much attention to product names, as some cleaners left a better finish than the conditioners. The top three all removed grime, so ease of use and value came to the fore. Mer gives you more for your money, with Meguiar's Aloe Cleaner coming home in second.

Leather cleaners test result:-

1 Mer Leather Cleaner

2 Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Aloe Cleaner

3 Meguiar's Gold Class Cleaner/Conditioner

We got an '03 Plate 2.2 DTi Elite Estate in Silver a couple of months ago with 40k on it, paid £7200. Considering it wasn't a planned purchase, it's a right beauty. Never EVER seen another in that spec (seen one advertised a few weeks after for £7800), and nothing else that could better it, so had to be done  ;D

Miggy, your motor looks a beaut! Mr Budden seems to get some RIGHT Omegas in stock, I don't know where the hell he finds 'em, has loads of TOP spec 3.2's Elites, Leather, Colour Displays, low mileages etc. Spot on! He does command a high price but as you say, if the service is good and the car is what you want. why not? You work hard enough for it!

So have to ask, does he clean them up as well as they look in the pictures? Are they fully serviced? Does he have a showroom where you can compare and look round them all!?!

I hate to say it though, but you are ALWAYS gonna be cleaning that with the black paintwork and cream leather  :-X Though get some good wax on it and will make life much easier.

For the leather, you want AutoGlym Leather Cleaner followed by AutoGlym Leather Care Cream. Will look and feel great  :y It isn't covered in that silicone stuff is it? It will take ages to disappear if so!

Congrats on the purchase  :)

Did you know, our Lord Mayor of York has a stretched black facelift  8-) I'm thinking we do a special thread for 'special' omegas, there's loads of hearses around, nobody seems to mention on here!?! Now that would be THE ULTIMATE load lugger  ;D

Got mine from Roger Budden, was a very reasonable chap, fitted the CID (Brand New) in it for £500 but this was lost anyway with the car I traded in.

He does have some nice Omega's but I suspect he's finding it harder to get hold of them now!

VXL, yours looks smart as well! Got any pictures up in the gallery?

Are you saying the £500 value is lost against your PX??? And could we have found a source for facelift sat nav systems!?!  :D

Pictures Here:-

Scroll down for some better ones!

I think I got £850 for my trade in and he wanted £500 to upgrade the mono screen to colour.... I thought that was a pretty good deal really considering the screens are over a grand new (And this one was, I saw it in the box) plus the fitting / tech 2 work.

I don't think he'll sell just a screen as he said a few people ask for the colour upgrade. German eBay is the only place to get them at sensible money, I think MDTM can tell you who are the good sellers over there.
