I'm still trying to fix my intermittent speaker in drivers door - looks like its wiring between headunit and speaker.
I assume there is a connector near where the loom joins the door, but before stripping down, wondered if anyone knew if the connector was in the door, or just above the drivers kick panel?
-
Its easier than that, open the door and look at the hinge area....there is a dity great big multiway connector with a twist lock assembly on it for the front doors
-
Brilliant, thanks Mark :D
Does this connector get a bit dirty - could that be cause of my probs?
-
Never known it cause problems, probably more likely to be a failing voice coil in the speaker I would have thought.
-
Already changed the speaker, though it was one from a car being scrapped. Same problem though, hence why I suspect wiring (replaced headunit as well)
-
Is the door tweeter working?
-
The whole thing is intermittent, but I think the tweeter goes off as well :(
I'll pay more attention next time, but if tweeter says on, would that prove its speaker?
-
It proves the loom to the door is ok, if the tweeter does go off then start at the door connector and work back to the stereo whilst measuring for 8ohm from the door speaker.
-
I shall have a look at that connector tonight, then it it happens again, pay more attention to the tweeter.
Thanks Mark [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

This may sound dumb, but I can't work out how to undo connector :-[ - I can't really see enough to work it out. It twists slightly, but wont pull out. The is a little red clip thing on it, does this need to come off first? If so, how? Tried pulling, but it appears not to want to budge.
-
The nurled collar section twists first, it goes stiff as it passes over an indent before you can pull and remove.
The red plastic tadger does nowt.
-
Ta, I'll have another go :) (didn't wanna break it)
-
In view of fact I have side airbags, and there is a pressure sensor in the door, do I need to disconnect battery?
-
Dont turn the ignition on......
-
Had another go, the whole thing turns anticlockwise, about 15 degrees (and over a notch in the process). Try as I might though, I can't seem to pull it out. Am I doing everything right before I get some big tools on it?
-
The tweeter and bass driver use seperate cables into the door, when I did my CD2.0 I didn't find where they were joined

I think this maybe the difference facelift or pre facelift, only my omega 97P the tweeter cable looked to be seperate from the bass speaker cable when I was last inside the door removing my clicking check strap.

Right, I sort of gave up on that connector, and yet again, sort of put the job off, as it was working ok again.
This morning, its playing up again. I turned the balance/fader purely to drivers front speaker, and only getting a quiet muffle from it (with intermittent bouts of working properly). Both speaker and tweeter were almost silent.
From previous posts, does this rule out speaker and that connector. Where should I look next?

from what I remember on my pre-facelift when I was trying to find out what had been done to the bose amplifier, there is a multi-way connector under the driver's side kick panel too which has all the speaker connections on it. Might be worth reseating that one as well but as it doesn't normally get touched, I wouldn't have thought this would be the problem ...
