Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 14 July 2006, 11:33:18
Spotted these on ebay, not mine but the easiest upgrade for earlier lights.

are the standard lights that bad that they need upgrading?

Not driven mine in the dark yet :-/

The standard ones on mine are pretty good at the moment as they haven't turned yellow yet.

I would like to upgrade mine so I may go after these.

Cheers for the links. :-/

IMO yes!
I hope they got better with the facelift.
I used to have a 96 2.0 CD spec, I actually drove a couple of times (accidentally), with full beam, on instead on dipped lights, and nobody flashed at me. :o
Elite now-a-days with xenons, now that is much better. :D

I thought mine looked a bit foggy, so was considering a replacement but that's down the list a bit at the moment.

If they are a bit foggy then give them a rub down with fine wet and dry adn then polish them up with T-cut ......makes quite a difference.

The key thing about the above lights is that they are the later Halogen bulb based projector lights and not HID so they dont requrie a ballast pack or any mods to the wiring, the standard plugs for the lights, leveling motor etc all plug straight in.

wet and dry sounds a fairly low cost option, may give it a go when I'm at home.  Might get some of the newer ones later.

Any easy upgrade to the ealier omega lights has to be a good thing, my friend has a m reg cdx and the nightlights are terrible, that is unless he has something wrong with them, but i doubt it from what ive read previous, i will post him the link to this auction, thanks.

i got one of each as it failed nct (mot) on the reflector condition and i searched all local scrappies and only one light was any good so the other came mail order from a 99 facelift. when i went to get the beams set the guys swore they would never pass it because it had two totally different patterns, i argued that if both were set up right there could be no prob. sailed thru the nct after that and i think it rocks havin odd lights reminds me of the johnny cash tune "one piece at a time"
