Afternoon !
OK i want to share some information with my dear friends on the Omega forum !
I have seen many postings in the past referring to seized manifoild studs/nuts, front wishbone bolts being rusted to buggery etc etc !
OK i have been searching high and low for an answer to these little problems and have come up with something quite fantastic !
Ambersil make a product called " Rust Flash" , its a VERY high quality penetrating oil coupled with a freezing agent ! Its works by litterally shocking the rust to fracture at -40C and when these little fractures occur the pnetrating oil seeps in under capilery action, the action is INSTANT so NO STANDING AROUND !
I have tried it on a few VERY seized and rusty nuts/bolts and a few manifold studs/nuts. It works perfectly !!!
A word of warning though, as with most studs, and twisting action ( side to side) movement of the spanner /socket is likely to start the stud fracturing /breaking , so bear that in mind !
This product is the dogs pink bits and i'm very immpressed indeed !
The price for a 500ml can is around £3 to £6 depending on where you can buy it ! Most Engineers Factors will sell it, but usually only in box's of 12 cans !
It can be brought on the internet, but postage can be as much or more than the value of the product its self !
If you can get hold of a can, try it, i'm 100% sure you will be gob smacked !!!
Remember - AMBERSIL RUST FLASH is what your looking for !
Anyone who has had any dealings with this stuff already , i'd love to see some feed back on it please !
Cheers

OK mate, love to know what you think, when you get some, i was VERY immpressed
As with anything, i'm sure theres a limitation, but i have tried it on bolts rusted with sea/salt water and it did the job !

funy that i am currently in negotiations with a front wishbone that wont come off a rover
tried sockets
tried spanners
tried penetrating fluid
tried locktite freeze and release
tried plus gas
no joy - going to try and burn the £$%^& tonight and if not i will try
AMBERSIL RUST FLASH
got to say i reckon it will work as loctite freeze and release has always worked for me in a similar situation ( apart from the current one) and it works in the same way of freezing the nuts off ;D
-
Well bugger me, i didnt know Loctite had a product on the market already !!!!
Anyhow good luck with the wishbone bolt, personally if it pi***ed me off that much by not coming undone, i'd grind the nut off with a cutting disk !!!!! ;D

Top tip, will give it a try.....

I managed to pick up some of the loctite stuff from a local motor factors, it's called "freeze & release" (and has something in german below that - along the lines of fast rust remover ice?). Has a "cat no. 39160" printed at the bottom, and claims to freeze to -43 degrees C ... sounds like it's the same sort of stuff ...

not cheap ... £7.18 inc. VAT for a 400ml aerosol ... then again I pay cash over the counter at the motor factors, but most places I looked for that "rust flash" stuff wanted about that much for delivery alone!!
Not tried it yet, bought to use (if needed) on the handbrake cable adjuster which needs tending to ...

From here £4.18 inc Vat . Dont think trade only?
http://www.cromwell.co.uk
Seen it cheaper but I'm not near Southampton Del min £6.50
