Title: Cooloing fans
Post by: TheBoy on 25 August 2006, 16:11:06
It would appear the cooling fans aren't coming on on my project car (oil cooler just replaced).

Do they have their own temp sensors, if so, where?

The book of lies wiring diagram implies that each fan has its own relay and sensor.  Can anyone help with which relay it is (presumably one by battery?)

OK, the book of lies reckons Fuses 40 and 42, which must be in engine bay, as cabin fuses don't go that high. Each fan also has a relay.

Does anyone have a diagram of the engine bay fuses/relays?

Nope, can't find it there.

I think by trial and error, I've found it.  I have removed a sensor from rad, that has 3 pins. Shorting out pins 1 and 2, the fan behind the rad comes on. Shorting out 1 and 3, nothing happens.  Haynes book of lies implies that 1 and 3 should bring on another fan...

Not sure if this will help, (a) because NOT all model years have the same engine fusebox layout, and (b) there seem to be five different fan-realted relays. But for what it's worth here it is:
