Title: Relevant subject titles
Post by: VXL V6 on 04 September 2007, 13:32:19
Forgive me if you think i'm having a rant, but I do feel that posts in the Omega General Help section should have a title that relates to the problem.

There are so many that just say 'Help!!!!!' 'Got this problem' etc, just makes it difficult to find a topic when you are researching a problem and also means you end up reading posts that you can't offer any help on.

What do others feel?

only a few minutes ago i got in from work, logged on and went into general help, saw a topic titled "Help Please" and thought the very same thing as you

i'm not a knowlegable person when it comes to cars but i like to input wherever possible since this forum has done plenty for me, and to see a topic in the help section that again says just "help", puts me off clicking on it, whereas "auto omega stalling at junctions" is most likely to grab my attention since it happened to mine and i now know how to cure it!

None really, except modifying posts with incorrect titles  :-/

TBH that's not really fair on the mods, perhaps, if people agree, we could all try and make our subject titles relevant and advise 'newbies' to do the same.

at the top of the general help main page you have a caption reading "Help and advice section for technical questions on your Vauxhall Omega.
Please check that your query hasn't already been answered in FAQ and Technical Info section"

you could add in bold letters "please make your topic title relevant to the problem!"

Yep, think this would be a good idea.

So my ancient topic 'A funny thing happened at the supermarket' wasn't relevant then :(
