Hi Guys,
Was wondering if I could get some help with a noise that have appeared this morning....
It's that darned clicking on idle, it has got so much worse this morning, It's going to have to be fixed - I've asked for help on this before, and I'm pretty sure it's the Exhuast Manifold Gasket, after what everyone else seems to think.
But apart from the irritating clicking at almost any engine speed, is there anything else that would identify it as that.. (I'd like to be sure before I pay to get it fixed)
Cheers Guys.

hard to tell without seeing, but ticking, esp when cold, is often manifold and/or its gasket
-
thats exactly the same symptons of my project elite :(
Give the Idle Control Valve a clean with some carb cleaner, that helped mine a bit. (it was noisey before)
But you can hear the ticking when acclerating at any speed, although can't be heard at a constant speed say 70mph with the cruise on.
My advice, take it to a local exhaust specialist, I took my to ATS and they were very helpful. Popped it on the ramp and confirmed it was the head to my manifold gasket.
Unfortunelty its a right PITA to fix, offically its an engine out job! :o
But I have been talking with some members here about doing it the easy way, but its still fiddly. Involves getting a very large bar, and popping the engine off its mounts to get better access! :o :o :(

The other official way is to take head off.
Remember, if its the drivers side, it is apparently easier, not requiring engine out of head off...

That is exactly it.
Oh Bugger.
I'll take a proper look at it at the weekend.
Looks like it's replacement time.
Anyone know how much it is to get VX to do it?
Cheers.

Oh, and the car will not be fixed.
And, it WILL be worse. And dented. And have a mystery 300 miles on the clock. And no fuel.
