After a rather dubious post earlier today by a "newbie" i have decided to post this.
However, please lets not get into historical debate over various forums. Lets keep personalities out of it and also the names of anyone perceived of doing wrong.
Thats not the reason for this post :)
The reason for the post is simply to reiterate again my support for the enormous hard work, dedication and financial input that Dave ( Laidback) Jamie ( The Boy) Mark DTM put into this site day in day out day in....
Also lets not forget the previous work Of a certain Mr McBurger and the ongoing dedication of our very own Auto Addict (AA)
Without you guys and the worthwhile input of almost everyone thats ever visited the site this would not be the success it is.
And it goes without saying the site is a massive success, and it will continue to grow.
Well Done Team - Keep up the good work and I am sure every "contributor" of the site salutes you all :y [smiley=beer.gif]

This site is nothing without the members :)
I, along with other admins/mods, believe everyone here is equal, ie no tiered membership, and nobody's view is any more or less important than any other view.
So, equal thanks to everyone.

I couldn't agree more. As for the forum being 'clicky', I have only been a member a short time and I have felt totally welcome from the day I joined. In fact, I remeber my post in the Newbies section was entitled, 'What a Friendly Place'. I really didn't know just how friendly it was going to be.
I would like to add my greatful thanks to all of those who are and were responsible for setting this up, I really feel that I have made some good friends here. Keep up the good work everyone.

Can't argue with any of the above, the 'outburst' shocked me, was very suprised how anyone got that opinion!
even west so far as to find the posts in question where he claimed to be shot down, i could read nothing of the sort into it.
Ahh well, I dont suppose that particular member is a great loss.
And yes, I too think its a great community, the meets especially!

You can spot these troublemakers a mile off. If nobody replies to their posts, they will go away. It's pure attention seeking.

As a very "newbie" who is asking all the stupid inane questions... may I say that there is no way this site can be called "cliquey"... the help and advice I have had from all levels, is amazing, especially as most of you must be thinking "just how thick is this guy".
I have also seen some very good and subtle moderating going on, not the in your face " I'm in charge do as I say" as seen on many sites.
All in all every member who ever reaches for the keyboard to reply to a post deserves my thanks ... you enlighten, educate and amuse me in different threads - SWMBO is actually starting to show interest in attending a "meet", something she hasn't done since the days of the MGB.
So, thankyou, and please don't change - or allow one gobby little ***** to influence what is without doubt an excellent community.

So was LB66 banned from there or did he leave?
If you want to search that site without joining I have created an open membership. But it comes to my email address so read only!
Noted that ordinary members of that site link to us and get annoyed that the link gets *****ed.

100% agree :y I have only been a member for a relatively short period but that period has saved me a lot of money. It has also given me a new interest which is beneficial.
I know that I can have a go at anything and if I get stuck, there is always someone here to help. That help is almost instant most of the time.
Admittedly this is the only Vauxhall or car related forum I belong to, so cannot make a comparison. However I feel that the proof is in the pudding as I have never had to look anywhere else for answers.
It is also nice to have gained a bit of knowledge to pass on to newer members. So as well as a forum, this is THE omega academy.

I 'bit' and that gave him reason to retaliate so I apologise if I caused him to reply, best plan is to ignore posts like that in the future IMHO.
I completely agree with all said on here, The site and the Admins are all first class!

I have Posted a few times my feelings about this Forum, and i think the time has come to do it again.
I have only been a member for 2 Months and in this time,i have been very Impressed by the way i have been accepted.
I am no Master Mechanic, nor do i think that i will ever be one, but the way that one has been accepted
is second to none.
There are members on here that are very talented in more ways than one, no matter what the problem seems to be there is always some one with an answer whether it be on Boats, Cameras or Mobiles their is always someone willing to give advice.
As TB has said this Forum is down to all of us, and i for one would like to return the gift of Helpfullness ,in which ever way i feel possible.
I look upon this Forum as a second Family that is growing all the time.
The Friendships that have evolved or, are now evolving is all down to a special sort of person, and that person is YOU !!!
So well done to all of us, and let´s not let Jealous people throw a spanner in the works to fire their own Evil soul.

I have also said this before - and make no apologies for saying it again - this is a great site as echoed by what people have said above. We all owe a huge thanks to the admins who made it possible in the first place. Yes, the site does require an amount of active members, but without the admins who started it, we would not be here now. So, thanks again.
I have not been around much lately as very busy at work and dealing with a VERY large decorating project (a large church hall on my own wood floor walls that have not seen a paint brush for around 10 years etc.) so have not seen the bad post but from what has been said above, I think that it is best ignored.
Whilst I am not spanner shy, I do not consider myself an expert or even that good - this site gave me the confidence earlier in the year to change my own exhaust, steering idler and trackrod end.
In the meantime, let's carry on the good work, helping out where we can and keeping the friendliness alive!

OK, just before someone shouts 'group hug!'...
Cliquey? what rubbish. Once of the nice things about this site is its diverse members' profile. You are always welcome and will always be offered assistance regardless of your level of participation or what you are willing to give back to the community. As a 'Baron', I don't feel superior to someone with a dual-digit post count, and on the other hand the fact that I was so far unable to make any of the meetings does not mean that I feel left-out or less worthy in any way...
But the final point is that no one forces people on to this site... so anyone logging-in just to tell us that this is a horrible place and he does not want to ever come here again etc etc (twice...) must have some issues (especially since the only piece of real criticism was that LB is a one-ocassion spammer... wow, bring back capital punishment).
Setting this side, I am here because I want to be here, and this ain't gonna change... 8-)

i remember when this all started, i cant believe it was over a year ago......
there have been times when i have not posted for months and when i return i always feel welcome, at the nearly Wales meeting Me and Mia were made to feel part of the group, my only regret was not getting to the lakes meeting.
I have been a member of many forums in the past, most of the Vauxhall, including the other site, i am yet to come across a site that is so well moderated, and easy to fit into.
that's my two penneth worth

I'm spending half of the day in this form even in job..(hope boss dont see)..
This means "SUCCESS" in my dictionary..
For the members : the general level is classy..
And thanks for the admins, they are really gentle..
