Hi Peeps !!
Urmmmmmmmmmmm oil pressure switch BLEW today, bloody OIL everywhere !!!
I refused to beleive it could be the pressure switch until a mechanic friend of mine said it was quite a common problem ( not with Omega's ) most or all pressure switch's are partly metal , partly plastic, and where the two join together is a common place for a leak to form ! Also ( i'm told ) that the pressure switch's sometimes just blow right the way through, so oil comes out where wire go's in !!
I know its caused a dammed mess ! Estimated the pressure switch had blown 1/2 pint in 50 miles !!!
Ohhhhhhhhhh what a mess !!! Looks like a GUNK job to me :)
Anyone else been on the receving end of a blown pressure switch !!!
Cheers me dears

Not something I've ever seen before. I though sometimes they fail electrically.
I wonder if you are getting too much pressure for some reason (blockage etc...)

Seen it before....on just about all makes of car.....

That was something that came to mind right away, too much oil pressure that is !
But breathers were cleaned out some 5 months ago, and they werent too bad then !
Like Mark says, its just one of those things, ever since i have had the car, there's been a very small oil leakage, and i mean very small ! Its just i could never see or work out exactly where it was coming from, as oil tends to get blown in to all four points of the compass when doing motorway milage, which i do a lot of.
At least now, i know for sure where this dammed leak is, i already have the oil switch, going to try and replace tomorrow evening, although its a bit of a dog to do on the four pots, not much access as its tucked up high behind the oil pump, and the sump also tends to get in the way too !
Cheers

look on the bright side Mark. When all's said and done, it's about the best oil leak you could get. Just imagine how many much more nasty ones it could have been :)

All done and dusted !
However i cheated a bit ! Popped in to the garage just up from where i work, at Dinner time !
They replaced the oil pressure switch, cleaned all the sump and engine and topped up the oil ( i let them do it ONLY becuase they had a 4 poster lift )
£10 all in, now is it worth getting me hands dirty !!! Well i didnt , so i suppose it was worth a £10 ! :D

Result, it would've been worth 10 quid just to get the engine cleaned. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
