Title: squeaky brakes
Post by: paul.c on 26 September 2006, 19:13:30
hi guys last week i fitted a set of ferrodo premier pads to the rear. after a couple of days they started to squeak. i went back in to the local parts place. and the doughnut behind the counter said that they are probably just bedding in. just give them another couple of weeks  he said..(sounds like a load of sh*te to me). anyway i took the pads back off and they were very glazed. i gave them a rub down with wet and dry and put them back in. they seemed alright at first but the squealing has started again any suggestions??

a little copperslip on the backing plates may help...

Yeah, disc-quiet works surprisingly well on the pad surface, in a way  :o ;D

Some pads just squeak, if hi-perf.  It is the front edge grabbing, so you could bevel that slightly?  It might help.  Using stuff on the back definitely helps.

And if that doesn't work, go buy some genuine Vx pads. Only £12 + vat on trade club.

I've always had an intermittent squeal from my brakes. I've checked that the disks and pads are OK, so the only thing I do is turn up the music :)

I often file a leading and trailing edge on the pads if needed......which Vaux pads come with already applied!
