Title: Cambelt change
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 30 September 2006, 19:46:09
Am I right in thinking that on the 2.0 Engine, no special timing tools, apart from the little one to lock the cams together, are needed to do a cambelt change?

Eg - just refit the belt onto the locked cams, and then set the tensioner as usual?

I guess the tensioner marks go in the same place as on a V6 change with a new belt - eg take the tensioner approx 4mm past the mark?

Thats correct...the tensioner has markings for new and used belts to.

Please say that you are changing the water pump at the same time.

Of course!

Pointless fitting a new cambelt kit, if it's going to be ruined by the water pump falling to bits :D

Yep, it'll be a brand new water pump, but the cambelt is part worn.  ;D
