Title: Trade Club
Post by: mar892ree on 21 September 2006, 17:13:54
Hi peeps, sorry for my absence of late !

Had reason to visit local VX dealership on Monday, and to cut  along story short, started talking and trying to blag a trade club card again !

Luck was on my side, the local area trade club rep was in the building ! After having a few freindly words with the guy, he said he would get an account for me !

Well today, Thursday, i get a phone call, saying all was OK, and here's your account number !
Card is yet to arrive etc, along with the books !

One problem i have is i have found the trade club web site, but its asking me for a login and passwrod !

Tried contacting the club via the online form, but it come up with page not found when i go to send the on line form off asking for assistance !

Any tips ! Or do i have to wait for the card and books etc , and the info will be included with these !

Also is there only one logon site for the trade club !

Cheers

Mark

Who phoned you to say OK?  Trade Club or your dealer?

I filled in a form last week, so far heard nothing...

Trade club rep, who works from my main dealer !

This only happened as i happened to be at the dealership whilst this guy was there !
I suppose it pays to talk to the right people, as i have never even got near to getting a card before !
This guy took my details on Monday, and today rang and gave me my number 3-4 days !!!

Being the area trade club rep, i suppose he knows what buttons to press etc etc

I suspect, until your card actually arrives, many dealers may be unwilling to give you TC prices....

I will be using the dealership ( main dealer) where the account was set up from, area Trade Club Rep works from this branch

Frequently, my card has been 'borrowed'. Even though my local dealers know me, sometimes without the card, they are fussy (sometimes fine though). The T&Cs do say card must be presented...

I am in a similar situation to mar892ree, I asked my local service manager if there was a chance of obtaining a Trade Club Card, and he said it shouldn't be a problem, that was about three weeks ago, and on Tuesday he said it should arrive on Friday (tomorrow).

I have TradeClub access, but after having a chat with my friendly Vx parts dude the other day, he assured me that i'd always get trade club even if i didn't have the card, he'd just use another 'local' account for me.

If only they were all this helpfull.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I think it also depends on who serves you, even within the same dealership.

Well done AA. So I guess you won't be needing my Pollen Filter then?

My Vx dealer opened an account for me on their computer system, and the account shows my TC number, so now they bring up the account and automatically give me TC prices without ever asking to see the actual card again. In fact anyone turning-up at the dealership and quoting my account name will get TC prices as long as he pays cash (I didn't open a credit account - don't trust you guys  ;D).

Just thought I'd jump in on this thread and ask the following questions of those who would know:

What is Trade Club? I presume it's a discount scheme though Vx for motor trade

Who is eligible to apply? Do you need to prove you're in the trade as other such schemes require?

Having seen many references to Trade Club and more importantly, the cheap prices, my curiousity has finally prompted me to ask.

As far as I understand Trade Club is a discount scheme for traders where you get a good discount off vauxhall service items. You do have to prove you are a trader but you can get a card by joining Autobahn Stormers club or MIGweb.

Post by: Kev on 27 September 2006, 12:33:37
Yep, Trade Club is a scheme operated by Vx which entitles you to massive discounts on most serviceable items on all Vx vehicles including vans. Prices are far lower than 'normal trade' prices, which you should be getting anyway if your local parts guy is ok.  ;)

To join you need to be in the trade, usually Vx related and Vat registered. You can apply at your local Vx Trade Club counter, but your application is sent away to Vx for approval.

As pointed out though, you can get access to a card by either joining AutoBahnStormers or you could ask some of the nice folks on here to help out.

The first option will cost you money, the second won't.  ;)

How come by joining Autobahn Stormers club or MIGweb you can qualify?

Perhaps, someone should approach Vauxhall and get the same status for members of this wonderful forum. After all, by owning an Omega, it almost guarantees that you'll be in and out of the dealship parts dept. on a regular basis! [smiley=smiley.gif] Would have thought it would be good business! [smiley=grin.gif]

it's NOT just migweb and autobahnstormers. ALL clubs that are members of VBOA (Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association) get trade club membership for their members, a full list of the clubs can be found here (http://www.vboa.org.uk/toplevel.php?p=d). Trade club membership gained through this manner is intended for personal use only, in theory Vx could withdraw this if they thought it was being abused - and it would be withdrawn for ALL members of ALL clubs in VBOA - not just the one ...

although in theory if you were buying a lot of stuff you'd probably be trade and therefore apply for a "proper" trade club card anyway!

We wouldn't get membership as we are not a fee paying club (which I think is a good thing).

Interestingly, the Omega is not well covered by any of the other orgs.....

Its very difficult to get trade club, the Vxlscc, the 'official' Vauxhall owners club took nearly 9 months to get the card. So if they find it difficult god help the rest of us!!

The other thing any dealer doesnt have to give any discount for trade club, so if you have a jobsworth numpty on the computer they can tell you to politely pay the full price of fly away and you cant do anything about it.

This has happened to a couple of people on the Vxlscc, but only when there isnt another dealer near by funnily enough!!

vxlscc are members of VBOA - the same as Mig and autobahnstormers et al ... I believe it was VBOA that fought the long battle for trade club entry ... the parts guy at my local dealer said that the mig a/c on the membership card didn't exist on their new computer system - so he puts it through on a local cabby a/c instead :)

Hopefully your local one would do the same  8-)

Yep, mine also said he would do that for me if my card wasn't available. Helluva nice chap.  :)

Not every vx dealer will except the TC card, thats probably the reason.
You can look up on tradeclub website which dealers except the card.

Didnt know about Marks point that you have to be a fee paying club....but i do know that the club has to have been runnning for 12 months.

Only recently heard aout this trade discount, as my mate who leases vehicles thrugh VX outlet in London, got me the irmscher alu steering wheel, still cost 550 though. My local dealer seemingly knocked off £150 when I had to fix my air con earlier this year, seemingly that was on labour.
