Title: bastuck exhaust
Post by: stuvaux on 09 October 2006, 12:48:41
i am thinking of fitting a bastuck exhaust to my omega

according to regal, it should add about 25bhp - which is dyno proven

does anyone here know if this sounds about right
the full exhaust costs about £450

thanks,   stu     8-)

It sounds like utter bull (backed up by the Regal name!).

The V6 exhaust is pretty free flowing anyway with the worst part being the exhaust manifolds (I bet it doesn't replace them).

You would be much better off getting a blue flame (or similar) stainless unit and spending the money saved on some 3.0 cams.

I like the look of these, and my local Halfords is an agent for them, but dont know if you can use a trade card or not. Someone else will know about that one

Have to say, not heard much positive about Jetex stuff.

I am just going to echo what Mark says.

If you want a decent stainless system, got for Blueflame. It will be made to your specifications and will be reasonably priced (relatively speaking).
I believe Mtekperformance can get a good discount with Blueflame too!  :)

Omega V6CD will be able to comment on the quality as he has one fitted to his 2.5 and he will not settle for anything other than a 1st class system!  ;)

Also leaves some money for 3.0 cams which are the modification of choice for any 2.5 owner!

Regal is claiming 25 bhp increase over the rev range not 25 on top of the max engine output. I'm in the same page with Mark and Dave on that, regal are prety incompetent tuners and i wouldn't take their word for it. Also the bastuck design in fundamentally wrong as the y section from the cats to the middle box has too big angle which would easily increase the gasflow restriction/backpressure. I was the guinea pig with blueflame and i'm very happy with the result as the y section is of a small angle, the noise is low and i like the sound. If you want to feel difference in the power get the cams i might be selling a pair in a few months after i decide my car's future so keep an eye.
