Title: Cambelt DVD
Post by: Eliteman Steve on 26 September 2006, 19:53:42
Hi there Guys , Just got on the forum today , spent the last couple of months wasting my time on another forum which shall remain nameless ;D Was reading about the cambelt DVD , who do I need to get in touch with to get me a copy!!! Don't need to do the job for 15 - 20,000 miles or so but if I get it now , I may have worked up the nerve to do the job myself ;D ;D ;D

I ordered my copy a few weeks back.

Haven't done my belt yet, but the DVD is excellent.

Usual level of quality from from Mark and LB.

As for woeking up the nerve to do the belt, Once you have watched the DVD, you will think, oh, so thats whay thwey mean by insert crank lock at 60° BTDC. Hmm, that looks so easy now I seen it done.

Most of the descriptive on the belt change, is complex, but to actually see it done, then it just becomes so logical.

I love the timing of the cams, that was a really big help, as they sounded like a MOO to get right, but they look pretty simple.

Yeah, I got the DVD too, and was totally amazed. Not sure I'm ready to have a go myself yet, but having the visual reference is a great benefit.
Thanks again to all those involved in its making.
Any more 'parties' planned??  [smiley=beer.gif]

Trust me on this one!  If you have the tools and the DVD, doing the cambelt is not a difficult job.

I have so far done 2 Jobs on my Omega

1.  Changed a Bulb
2.  Changed the Cambelt!

Take your time, check the DVD and if you are in any doubt, take some pictures, post them up and ask for some reassurance.

Give yourself 8-10 hours, but with the DVD you can figure it out and do it yourself.  If you run into trouble, just hop online and someone here will help you out.

I can confirm that the DVD is excellent and makes a whole host of things become clear - like timing the cams and setting the tension on the tensioners.

Well worth the £3 and the speed of delivery is FAST!!!

All in all highly recommended - you even gets bonus bits like water pump replacement and greasing the aux belt tensioner!

Certinally made the process much clearer for me and I will no doubt do my own belt next time around!

One of the great reassurances is, as you say, having somewhere to go to find help.

Not yet, but I'm going to change the cambelt on a 2.0 soon (which is the same as a 2.2 I think) so I'll happily take lots of pics and describe the process of it.

It's dead easy on the 4 cylinder engines...

I've read enough about these Cambelt parties to know I want an invite to the next one, wherever it is... :) Is anybody planning one real soon?
