Hey guys
Im thinking about starting to prepare the MV6 for its 3rd MOT under my ownership. Sailed through the last two - i KNOW it wont this time.
Its a bit wobbly and pulling at front so i am thinking drop links, wishbones and so on - its not tyres or brake related. THAT doesnt bother me :y easy enough
What does though :-/
Car is not as prominant in moving in gear without acceleration - hard to explain but we all know the auto will trundle along in gear with out the accelerator pushed, it still does this but it doesnt do it on a very slight hill (drive or reverse) it simply holds, and on a steeper hill ( not a significant gradient) it rolls back. Now im thinking check gearbox oil - but if its not that....what could it be?
Also this morning i noticed a clunk clunk as i shut the back door. From underneath parallel with the back door. Same noise can be heard shutting the opposite door, and bouncing the boot and rear quarters!!! Its not suspension related and is definately coming from exhaust / rear diff area. Now i am hoping this could be as simple as the two `zaust boxes clunking together but again if not.......any others had similar issues....?
I would have checked this out this morning but when i left the car at the station it was cold, dark and windy and i was in office attire...now im sitting at work just worrying about it!! I should say the car performs perfectly apart from the slight wobble and vague feeling from front offfisde on cornering. No performance issues or problems engagine gears.
Any thoughts ::)
ps i know these issues may not necessarily fail an MOT but i dont like strange behaviour ;D

Hi Markie. Whenever there is a gear box problem the first advice is always check the fluid level, in 4 out of 5 cases that will be the cause of the problem.
As for the 'clunking' problem when closing doors, I dont really think that this can be anything other than a loose exhaust, especially as you are causing lateral movement, ie side-to side. I'm a bit surprised you dont hear anything when driving though. Turn the stereo down!
Edit: loose exhaust probably would be MOT failure

yes i really need to turn the cd`s off - oh and i gave tha tailpipes a prod with my foot when i discovered this ( bearing in mind i was running for a train and the exhaust was hot ;D)
Solid at the back, no movement, and no clunks......maybe mid section ::) dont care i am replacing it anyway :y theres also nothing hanging loose :o which is perhaps why i am getting a bit concrned tsitting here thinking about it!!

Auto boxes on omegas are a pain in the ass. Why oh why cant there just be a dipstick/filler like any other car?
PS. Get some work done!

Worn oil in the gearbox will cause problems you are describing.
Syphon out oil (you can get a very good Sealey 500ml syringe for £8 +p&p on ebay, I have one)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-Oil-Syringe-with-200mm-Suction-Tube_W0QQitemZ150041482501QQihZ005QQcategoryZ30928QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Drop sumps then clean/replace (£35!) filter and refill with DEX3 ONLY!
Remember work on a flat surface and use disposable clothes as worn gearbox oil is truly disgusting stuff! >:(
And the knocking sound does make me think a mounting rubber has come off the exhaust bracket.
