Tomorrow we are fitting the head back onto the project 2.0.
I have lost the haynes book of lies, and I have no idea of what to torque or angle the head bolts to, and also the camshaft bearing caps - I believe they are 8nm?
If anyone can post up the head torques I'd appreciate it!
Cheers!

head bolts:
stage 1: 25 nm
stage 2: further 90 deg.
stage 3: further 90 deg.
stage 4: further 90 deg.
stage 5: further 15 deg.
camshaft bearing caps are 8nm
buy go finger tight first then half turn each at a time working in a spiral pattern from the centre outwards
any chance of a how2 as i have to do a head gasket next week?
do the cam sprockets have to be removed? haynes say they have to but can i remove the cams complete

Hi mate
The camshafts certainly do have to come out, and yeah the sprockets need to come off. It's much easier with the sprockets off anyway, and a 2 minute job to remove them. The camshafts have a fitting that you can hold them with a spanner, I think 23mm, while undoing the pulley bolts. You then just remove the pullies
I'll take loads of pics so you can see it all, don't worry!!
From what I've experienced of the 2.0, the head gasket change is childs play....

Interesting... Autodata says 25Nm-90-90-90, but does not list the final 15 you mention? Also they say to renew the bolts.

You always use new bolts on the head.....the 15deg is supposed to be an extra tolerance turn, just in case you were slightly under on the first 3 turns.....

OK, thanks, that explains it then....
