Went to Vauxhall Dealer yesterday to pick up a new oil filter, ready for the oil change. First time I've done it on the car, and it turns out the fliter they've supplied is smaller than the one in the car, and doesn't fit.
I need to have the car on the road - can't live/work without it. Can the oil filter be changed without changing the oil after a trip back to the dealer to enlighten them to their mistake? (Took the car passport in - don't know what excuse they've got! >:()

I believe two different types on BMW TD engine...
Filter can be changed afterwards on most engines, I don't know, but I suspect TD no different. May need to top up oil a bit after changing filter though (you'll lose oil thats in filter)

There are two filters which are dependent on engine number:
2.5TD (filter element) to ENG no 34398417 - 93180820 £10.90 + Vat retail
2.5TD (filter element) from ENG no 34408417 - 93180093 £7.60 + Vat retail

Hmm... that makes the part they gave me right - it's a completely different size and diameter to the one I took out. Mine's an earlier engine number.
In the back of my handbook for the car someone's written down a part number (found after I went to the garage - Doh!) but it's completely different... #90542604. Here's a stab in the dark - anyone know what that part number is for? :)

90542604 was superseded by 93180093....so you need the later filter and a refund (its cheaper)

Jeeeeeeez - where do you guys get this from?! ;D
Cheers for that! :y
Awesome! I'm off to VX :)
