Greetings fellow Omega worshippers.. (Maybe thats over the top).
As you all might have noticed by my avatar, I have a different Omega, Had it a month or so now, Its only a 2.0 CD but it suits me.
My problem is i have an oil leak, seems to be from the rear of the engine. Is there any other usual places apart from the rocker cover gaskets that leak. I noticed pretty colours on the road when it was raining but on closer inspection cant seem to locate the leak.
It has gone from max to minimum on the dipstick in about 200 miles of local driving. Does anyone know if i might be barking up the wrong tree with the rocker gasket. Apart from that it seems to be going fine, well apart from the bang bang clunk from the front end. It gives me something to listen to until i fit a radio..All i need now is for the faries at the bottom of the garden to fix it,Wouldnt that be nice.
Answers on a postcard please.. :y

I will move this thread into the general help section.
Do clean all the breathers on the car and check out the crank to cam area breather pipe at the rear right, its worth removing the metal tube that fits into the block and giving it a thorough clean out.
-
Apologies for posting in the wrong place.
Thanks will get around to doing the breathers with a bit of luck its not too serious.

Have you any oil ( leakage) on the plastic tray under front of car !
Also you mention leakage from rear of engine, why do you say this !
Remember any leakage will normally travel backwards, but also tends to get blown everywhere at high speed !
Check the plastic tray to see if theres any oil deposits on it

The oil seems to be right at the back. there is no show of oil from the front or the sides of the rocker, just the last couple of inches at the back but i cannot trace the leak thats why i was asking if there are other known ares where it may leak.
I noticed this the other day so checked the oil this morning and hey presto it needed topping up. That confirmed a leak. Just what i wanted, i love cars.
I will update when i know more and after ive had a nervous breakdown.
Cheers.

Have you checked in the spark plugs ?
-
No have not checked in the spark plugs yet. Just thought i would get some input before i am brave enough to venture out in the rain.
-
Reason i was asking is - i had an oil leak, and it took me ages to trace it !
Ohhhhhhhh there was crap loads of oil under the car, accross the car, up the car, everywhere infact !
Turned out to be oil pressure switch, which is located behind oil pump/ filter assembly ( left hand side of engine as you look from front ) right in front of the upper part of the sump !
On the 4 pot ( 2.0 and 2.2 ) engines , you should be able to run your hand around most of the upper part of the engine to check for oil leaks ! The only restriction being on the throttle body side

;D get a big coat ;)
-
With the ban bang clunk from the front suspension, the pretty marks on the road when its raining, The big coat dont even come into it. Id rather sit back and wait for a fine day. Im a lazy git. No seriously im not using the car that much at the moment but its forecast rain for the next few days so just doing some research for when the weather is better. Perhaps i will win the lottery before it gets fine. Ha, Ha. Ive got more chance of climbing Everest on a pogo stick.

If the rocker cover is leaking at the rear it will be coming from one of the U sections at the back I found this was my problem but need to do mine again what with using the wrong sealant.
If you can get your hands in infront of the dispack and HBV you will be able to feel the rubber U sections in the gasket which is where mine leaked.

V6 Camshaft gasket replacement which seems to show a different sealant number.

Can anyone confirm the right sealant Part No. to use?
Its got me wondering which is the right one to use now.

there is another small number right at the top of the tube showing 824 9001 92
