Hi there , just a small problem(thankfully).
Ever since I've owned my car the windscreen has made a strange sort of bubbling noise when I've used the windscreen washer or when it has rained lightly (not during heavy rain). Now I'm getting a drip when it rains . Seems to me (with my towering interlect ;D ;D ;D) , that the seal around the windscreen is not doing its job properly( I know its amazing , I impress myself sometimes ;)).
Question , is there a way to seal the windscreen , or any products that you guys out there can recomend? :y :y

Firstly, I would try to see if there is any mud blocking water paths around or at the base of the windscreen.
If the rubber seal is weak, an RTV-based compound will do, but ideally you want to locate the leaky area, rather than using sealant all around.
Having said that, if the rubber seal has perished, using sealant is not a long term solution, a new seal is (which obviously requires removal of the windscreen). Alternatively, you can try reviving the rubber seal using silicone spray, though I don't think this will help much...
Another possible issue is that the leak is due to rust and corrosion in the metal under the rubber seal, again in this case the only long-term solution is to remove the windscreen and rubber seal, sort-out the rust, and re-fit the seal and windscreen.

have you got windscreen cover on your insurance?
If so it would be a terrible shame if it got whacked with a hammer, sorry I meant hit by a stone on the motorway.
£60ish and a nice new screen, no stone chips, no leaks, no loss of no claims etc, windscreens are a 'free claim'.

Omega windscreens are bonded, the rubber seal is little more than piece of trim which alse reduces wind noise.
Would be a shame if a centre punch fell on the screen....

Well, like most of the things I know about cars, my experience stopped with 15 years old technology - obviously I need to catch-up... ;D

If you can find the leak as a temporary job you could always seal the leak with some clear waterproof sealant, easy enough to do just be careful not to block the waterway where the water runs.

But I think a new windscreen does count as a claim if you wish to cancel your policy. This means that you do not get any refund of unused premium. You may wish to cancel for example to add another driver that your current insurer would not cover. Minor I know but it's exactly why I've not fixed the crack in my screen yet!

If the glass isn't cracked or chipped, pop in to a local (not bational) windscreen place and ask one of the younger guys if he could possible put some sealant on for you. Drop him a tenner and it will be sorted in 5 minutes. I've done this a couple of times with bonded screens, lastly on my Rover Sterling.
