Then clean the breather - clogged ones result in leaky cam cover gaskets.

What year is the Elite? What mileage?

Also, change engine oil and all the filters (oil, air, fuel) - unless you know when it was last done.

And if the auto gearbox is not as smooth as it should be, get the ATF replaced.

hi m8.av got a bill 4 the cam bellt  and it has a sticker when and milage it was dun under the bonit. but how do i no the rollers were dun with out takin the cover off?

hi. its a 1998 with a high 142.000 on the clock. but the good thing is i am only the 2`nd owner. it has a full s,h an runs very smoth. even the gear change is smoth. :) :)

the bill just states cam belt and the cost was £207. :-/

Trouble is , its the tensioners that fail, if it is only the belt that has been changed i wouldn't risk it :-/ can you contact the garage that did it?

Agreed, if you can't confirm with the garage that the tensioner has been changed then change both the tnesioner and the belt anyway - and do the water pump as well while you'r at it. How long/mileage ago was the cambelt change anyway?

Also, the spark plugs are good for 40k/4y, but if you are not sure when they were last replaced then get them done - they are only around £3 each from a Vx dealer.

got 2 admit it doesn`t drive and go`s like 142k m8. they don`t hang about do they? :y

it was 10.000 ago acordin 2 the book. and a full service 4000 ago. :y
