right guys having a nitemare today !! over the last two weeks i have fitted new roker cover gaskets and plenum seals and various o rings !! finished putting it all back together today and redoing all the vac pipes ( thanks marks dtm ) !! went to start car and when turned ign on the rev counter sat at just above 2000 rpm :o so tried to start car and having none of that !! after hours of checking found there was no fuel coming to inlet so frigged the pump to run and it pumped fuel up ok but pump not running with cranking !! any body any ideas please doing my head in at the min !!!! >:( thanks mark

Sounds like an electrical prob to me.....but what i dont know sorry :(
Bad earth somewhere perhaps?

had a sparky here all afternoon td checking and found nowt !! thanks any way matey :y oh and by the way its a 2.5 cdx on a r plate cheers

Have you connected all the sensors? Do you get any faultcodes? You might want to do the paperclip test.

yea mate checked and double checked !!!! gona do paperclip test tomorrow when i get in at 4 :y

I wonder if you might have some sensors plugged in the wrong place i.e. the leads swapped over.
-
I'm guessing here but the faulty RPM reading could be a clue.
Assuming the rev counter signal is gleaned from the crank sensor then maybe this is connected wrongly.
I'm sure one of the experts will be along soon to sort it for you.

all sensors spot on double checked !! leads the same only one been out of dispac !!! :(

crank sensor hasnt been disconected bud !! it was running fine till i took it to bits to do rocker gaskets !! b u gg er >:(

Have you trapped any leads under cam covers. I know this can sometimes happen with knock sensor lead. (Clutching at straws really)
-
Could you have damaged any wiring in the cable tray when doing the ns cover?
-
Check two things first.....
1) The main positive supply from the battery to the ECU box.
2) There are no loose connectors in the ECU box.
-
Did you disconnect battery while doing the work?
Checked you have spark?
If no spark or fuel then it's immobiliser related ;)
Also I assume you have correctly refitted the multiplug at back of fuel rail?

do you mean the relay connections mark ??

no i didnt dissconect the battery matey !! dont know if there is a spark will have to check that !! and yes all connectors are fully home and there are no cables trapped !! thanks guys

No, I mean the battery positive supply from the ecu box to the battery pos clamp.

ok mark thanks for clearing that for me matey !! would it be worth taking all wires off clamp cleaning and re seating ?? :y

Its always worth doing it but, check they are tight.....
Can you recall exactly what connectors were disconnected, its normaly:
Idle valve
Rear multiram
EGR
Injector multiplug
Throttle Pot
Knock sensor
The only two out of that lot you can realy get mixed up are the rear multiram and the idle valve....check these are connected correctly. For info the wires colors are:
Multiram - Brown/Grey or Brown/Black and Red/Blue
Idle valve - Brown/Blue and Red/Blue
Its just possible that if the rear multiram wiring was connected to the idle valve that the current draw might cause the driver to keep tripping.....and hence possibly cause weird operation plus...it wouldn't start because the valve would be fully shut.
Worth a quick check

didnt dissconect the knock sensors but everything else yes !! if it wasnt lashing it down would be out there and check it matey !!

right mark tried the plug thing and they wont swap places !! didnt take them out of carrier tray !! checked the wires from battery and all tight matey !! any other ideas please :y

:) :) :) :) :) :) fixed it !!! :) :) :) :) found three earth wires at back of plenum :-[ :-[ :-[
forgot them somehow !!!! doh !!! thanks for your input guys !!! cheers mark

Welldone Markey, Happy Days :y
-
Glad you got it sorted mate. :y
-
Why did you take them off, they only need removing when removing the head.....
-
Nice one Markey :y. Its no consolation I know, but its only through people having weird problems like this, that we all get to know what to look for in future.

someone else must of removed them and bolted them to the plenum bud !! it had cheap crap hard rocker gaskets in it !!! :y sorted now mark thanks for your input !! mark

yea mate someones problems are someones answers matey !! :y

Bolted to the plenum!
So they are now back on the three bolts on the end of the DIS pack mounting bracket I assume as the plenum is a questionable earth point, the three earths are for the ECU/injectors etc so need to be pretty good.
