Title: smell of oil after oil and filter change

I'm guessing this the old oil that spills down the engine casing when the old oil filter is removed?

No signs that my car is loosing oil.

either that or you missed the filler when refilling ;)

Oh no...got caught out like that years ago...no oil then a big splurge everywhere.

I have a trusty clean funnel that is kept just for new oil fills

Yes, the smell will be spilt oil from around sump and filter burning off. Should go after a decent run, unless there was loads...
