Hi all..
Hope that someone could help me with this one as it is somewhat annoying..
My remote locking key (both of them!) dosn't appear to be working all of the sudden, I can manually lock/unlock the car but not with the remote.
First I thought it was a battery related issue but thats not it, as I have changed both of them (main and spare key). I've also tried to "reprogram" them as described in the manual (30 secs with the key in the ignition on step II and then press on either lock or unlock) but still no luck.
Is it possible that the remote device located within the car (but where!?) which sends the signal to the doorlocks fails!?
Thanks in advance.. :y

Hi, it could be a problem with the transponder. I think The Boy is probably the best person to answer this one (and he is never away for long ;D)
-
Is it RF or Infra red remote?
If RF, the receiver is part of ATWS ECU, and sits in kick panel on right side of car. Dunno about the IR one.
Sometimes, when resyncing fobs, you have to press buttons several times, not just once (usually 3 or 4).
-
First simple check....when you press a button on the remote does the LED flash.
-
The LED flashes (full power) and i've tried pressing several times on the buttons while resyncing key.
The problem is the same with both keys.
Don't know wheter it is RF (whats this!? radio something?) or IR.
-
RF = Radio Frequency remote
IR = Infra red remote (small dark 'eye' near sunroof switch)
-
Ifs it IR then you will have a black sphere near the sunroof dial/interior light.
-
It's a RF then..
I guess the transponder isn't something that could be replaced as it is a part of the atws ecu, sounds expensive.. :(
-
transponder would only stop the car starting, wouldn't effect the locking....
-
What I meant was that I guess I would have to replace the whole unit, if I would like to have my remote locking to work properly again.. or?

If the ATWS ECU has failed, its not a particularly easy job to replace, as the key remotes and transponders are programmed to that unit, and that unit is programmed to the engine ECU :(
Did both keys fail together?
-
Yes both keys failed at the same time..

Yes both keys failed at the same time..
Seems less likely its the keyfobs then, unless for some reason the ATWS ECU has 'forgotten' then, and they need reprogramming....
